Yeah, the Japanese seem to adore it. I've certainly played more of them than any other nationality and they're bloody good at it too. Pleased to hear the achievements are earnable in player matches.

Sad to say it already seems to be a dying game online and I couldn't find a single ranked match last night which, considering how much fun it can be, is a real pity. Oh, and am I right in believing the online achievements can only be earnt in ranked matches?
I am loving this game, and there is a fair number of the NTSC-uk Chromehounds and GRAWsome squads who are picking this game up around xmas.

I would expect some organised games soon! (I'll be 100% up for hosting too.)

The game is great. I love it! (It's the same game as before, but man the new visuals look good on a HD projector!!)

It is indeed a great game, especially when you get a good team of players together online who communicate well and carefully choose their plane and weapons to take advantage of what their teammates are using. In those scenarios it can get really tactical and cunning and often entails players who have jammers and flares acting as bait to lure their opponents into the range of teammates with more deadly weapons.

Mission 5-8 got on my nerves abit as their very samey but I perservered with it tonight and after that it got amazing again from Mission 9 onwards so ended up playing 10missions on the trot tonight till finish (15levels total). I found it an amazing game and I would have slapped it back on again for another round if I didnt have to go for food. Probably in my top 5 of this year

Finished this last night after playing off and on - lot of fun and the last mission is awesome when you realise what you have to do

Just need somebody to do the co-op missions with now as that might be fun.

Finally got round to giving this a little more attention after CoD 4, Kane & Lynch and Mass Effect. Jesus, how good is it? Seriously? If it had a story that was, you know, actually competently written and not translated by some random work experience guy I'd be in heaven. I've played 4, 5 and 0 (though weirdly enough, never finished any of them - I always gave up right near the last or penultimate mission <_< ) and the sheer scale of this tops all the PS2 titles by miles. It's probably the first game this generation I've played where yes, technically it's just a hi-res re-skin, but that actually serves as the advance rather than just eye candy. And hey, the story may be a hack job, but it's better than 5 and 0, and how gorgeous are those cut scenes? Are they real time? I'm scared to think they might be. Still beautifully integrated if they're not, though.

A very solid 8 for me so far, and I haven't finished the game, let alone tried any further playthroughs or online. Very, very pleased with this one.

Out of the way - Online is ****ing great!

Now on to what i think of the rest of it...
I disagree with what you say Rooks. Ace Combat 6's story is sheer arse and is probably the worst in the series, the story in 5 so much better and the voice acting is more lively too, not dead like a corpse (although to be fair the estovakian dead leg guy delivers a solid performance).

Project Aces always mess and change around how they deliver the story in each iteration, 6s is like distant thunder but without the good/big/huge naratives of your piloting exploits.

As for the mission structure in 6, its just not as varied or compelling as 5. Its also alot shorter, Ace Combat 5 has 27 missions as standard with a couple of alternative missions to choose from along the way. Which makes roughly 30 odd. Theres only 15 in 6! I know you get operations this time, but it doesn't add anything, heck it doesn't really affect what operation to go for first, theres no strategy involved.

Negativities aside I really like ace combat 6 its just frustrating that i know they could deliver awhole lot more. I would still give it an 8 because the gameplay whats always been there has been a solid arcade sim experience ive been playing and loving since it was called Air Combat!

If this is anyones first proper playthrough of an ace combat title, you should go out and pick up AC5 on the ps2. Its a hell of alot better.

i had a quick look at game's website and the acecombat one a while back, and didn't notice anything. do you have to fill in a form somewhere then?
it all seems very hush hush.
