It's just a shame that Nintendo missed out on something really special by choosing not to support 5.1 or higher surround sound. Hopefully the soundtrack will make it to the UK stars catalogue, but if not there's always a very reliable website I could most likely obtain it, literally for a steal...
someone posted a link earlier in which you could download the Soundtrack. Im listening to it now superb stuff.

I'm sad to finish this game It really is amazing and a breathe of fresh air. Portal and Bioshock may have been different than most other FPS I played but they didn't have the same magic to them that this did. No Mario galaxy is just charming and wonderful and it's a real shame we probably won't see anything like it for years to come. Shame Nintendo aren't into DLC. New planets would rock.

Damn you game industry. Give me my Platformers back. Keep your FPS

That's a direct rip tho, I hate game rips as they sound so ****e. Egg Galaxy is in full surround sound, but none of the others are for some reason.

bit off topic but I kind of always saw Crackdown as a platformer in some respects.

it is an underperforming genre but main problem was nobody could ever come close to Nintendo in doing it well and subsequently seemed to give up. Plus the punters never bought 2d games after the PS1 showed up.

          Rareware managed.

Then the next Banjo might be worth keeping an eye out for. It's by the same team.

Although it will struggle in Galaxy's footsteps imo.

don't think rareware did manage, Miyamoto thought the 2d Donkey Kong games on the SNES were crap and their 3d efforts on the N64 were at best poor efforts in comparison to Mario 64

Does it matter what Miyamoto thinks? The guy hates first person games too - doesn't make them all crap though.

Miyamoto isn't an authority on 1st person games so no, I wouldn't weight his view as strongly as I would towards platform games, a genre he's pretty damn hot in.

for me if he thinks a platformer is weak and generic there is a pretty good chance it is.

I wouldn't normally argue with Miyamoto but in this case it sounds like clear jealousy that another company managed to make a platformer close to the perfection of his own. Donkey kong country series on the snes are the best games in the Donkey kong series and Nintendo haven't been able to make anything better with the license. Whether Miyamoto likes them or not the DKC games stand almost as high as Mario world itself among the fans. They are by no means crap.

                      3D platformers -
Banjo kazooie was excellent. Banjo Tooie was also a stunning game. Some fans even prefer them to Mario 64. They are plentyful in length, very creative and have an overwhelming sense of charm.

I'm personally in the belief that the N64s Library benefits more from Rareware than it does Nintendo:

                      Goldeneye
                      perfect dark
                      diddy kong racing
donkey kong 64 (hated it myself tho)
                      Jet force gemini
                      conkers bad fur day
                      Blast corps
                      banjo kazooie
                      Banjo tooie
                      killer instinct gold

                      Zelda OOT
                      Zelda MM
                      Mario 64
                      Mario party
                      Smash bros
                      Yoshis story
                      Pokemon staidum
                      F zero X
                      Lylat wars/Star fox 64

Yes I'd say Rareware were Nintendos main rivals when it came to great quality games (Platformers included!) So it's a good job they owned them at that point!

Shame Rareware aren't even 5% of their former greatness these days

That's what happens when nearly everyone leaves the company.

Glad other people are feeling the magic of the game, and the sales of the game in Japan continue to stay strong, which bodes well for a quick sequel, and while we are at it, a DS game based on the Galxy concept would be amazing too.

Just a quick question, would you guy's welcome a quick sequel to this game using this engine??

I?m in two minds on the idea. First I would rather no sequel to a crap Mario game. Saying that I really don?t want to wait five years for the next one either. The engine is defiantly great and needs no updating. (unless you?re one who believes everything must be HD now. As someone who also plays PC games, I had no qualms playing standard definition games on consoles five years ago, and nothings changed in that respect).

It would be nice to have a second Galaxy game within the next two years, or even a half sized half price expansion like game. There?s loads of game play mechanics which I felt were underused in that game, and I liked that about it, but that does leave things open for more. So yes, I for one would welcome a quick sequel.
