Oh, I hated what little I played of Hitman (bits of 1, 2 and the omnibus - "Chronicles", was it?). I adore Freedom Fighters, which is why I picked this up - Agent 47 doesn't interest me in the slightest.

Difficult to compare it to Stranglehold. I think it's fairly close, so far, even if both games have very different good or bad points.

EDIT: And it's really not that difficult on Hard, aside from the aforementioned spike that's holding me up. Takes me about a second to drop enemies behind cover - all you need to do is get used to the recoil (sort-of-kind-of-more-realistic-than-you'd-expect) and you're laughing. Anyone who's claimed their targets simply won't go down - much as I know this forum frowns on telling people they're wrong, I, well, they are. I unlocked the achievement for getting 47 headshots inside a few minutes. It's just that (Havana spoilers)

as far as I can see you basically have to shoot the Hind perfectly with a rocket every time it flies past, since not only will Lynch unaccountably refuse to use the RPGs he'll get himself killed virtually every time it goes over if you don't. Go down, he'll break cover to save you, get himself killed. Fail to constantly check his position, he'll break cover to blaze away pointlessly, get himself killed. To say nothing of moving too far away from him. Difficulty spike.

I may just give up and do it on co-op, if that nets the achievement for beating it on Hard...

EDIT AGAIN: And of course the AI can be exploited until it's lying on the floor pleading for mercy, which helps somewhat.

Stranglehold's destructable environments didn't lend themselves well to cover I found, where as in this, some objects can provide some cover at least.

Never had that much of a problem with Stranglehold in that respect - I'm fine with the idea of little to nothing providing permanent cover.

At the same time, I didn't find Kane & Lynch's cover system that bad, either - while there were obvious glitches and times when it would refuse to work, it wasn't that much worse than, say, GRAW.

It's a shame to read about how this game turned out after it seeming to be in development for a long time and looking so promising.

Finished it on Hard. So the game doesn't live up to the hype, and neither do the endings. Eh... oh well. I'd still like to try it co-op just to see Lynch's bits of the missions and get a few more achievements, and it does have the odd memorable bit... I mean,

YOU SHOULD! HAVE LET! ME TALK TO THEM!

hit me quite hard as did the Heat rip-off... most of Tokyo, actually.

Definitely one of the biggest disappointments of the year, and even more obviously crippled by publisher pressure than KOTOR 2. Still... let's hope Freedom Fighters 2 doesn't go down the same way, eh?

Is there anyway we can find out how this game is selling worldwide?

What would you give it out of ten?

                    A six?

I said earlier I'd agree with a 6. I think Edge's review got it more or less right.

I was kinda dissapointed that one of the games main interesting parts (Lynch going schitzo on you mid game) doesn't actually happen.

                        The endings

were also incredibly limp and a big let down to the overall narrative.

I can see where they were trying to go with the endings and I don't think the basic premise of either one was that bad, but they're handled really half-heartedly. The game simply doesn't spend any time on the right sort of character development to make you particularly care how it turns out either way. It feels as if Io just tried randomly smashing together all their favourite bits from different crime-related movies over the last thirty, forty years without any thought for how they'd actually work together.

Ok it seems K&L is a very either you hate it or love it kind of game, which makes it damn hard to decide on buying it!

So my question is, what does K&L played like game wise?

                            Just don't say The Getaway........

Imagine Freedom Fighters with all the good bits taken out and somebody standing in the room shouting expletives at you.

The Getaway is a pretty close comparison so far. I'm only an hour or two in. But the similarities are many.

The unsatisfying shooting complete with unpredictable aiming, the rigid character animation, the whack cover system, the quantity of the F-word.

                                It's all there.

I was expecting to be dissappointed, and it was only a fiver to trade for Mass Effect. But jeezis...it's a stinker.
