Some of the shooting bits do become relentless. There was one I remember (not sure which game it was in though) in a big round room where you came in from some stairs and had to defeat wave after wave after wave of enemys, trying not to run out of ammo. I think it took me 3 goes, dying right near the end of the onslaught each time which was bloody annoying.

I'm now up to chapter 18 and it feels like there's less shooting in this than I remember there being. My main concern though is that I'm right on the verge of the awkward Bunker section. The running blind fire tactic got me through the pit so I'm hoping it'll work the same for that section too though I'm expecting it to take a few goes. The game feels like it's gotten easier as it's gone on though that might just be me getting used to the aiming again. I really have loved going through this again and there's a real sense of place to the location. That said, despite the consistancy here, I prefer the variation that the second game contained in it's locations.

Aaannd I'm now on Chapter 8 on crushing now. It feels more fiddly on this difficulty but a slow and steady approach whilst hanging back is seeing me through. Towards the end of my previous playthrough I've got to say that I didn't remember the end boss being that much better handled than the one in UC2. For the third game I'd happily see a return to set piece rather than gunfight.

Just completed the first Uncharted game for the first time. Thought it was good but not amazing, combat is clunky and the camera doesn't work too well when switching to aim mode. Graphics are nice but again not amazing, lots of tearing and looks a little bitty in places. Good plot if under written, needs a bit more dialogue overall. Last boss was also junk but overall I really enjoyed it.

It's amazing how forgiving people are though when looking back through this. The gunplay is rough as hell and very glitchy. I hit someone with a shotgun full bore and it did no damage at all. Also headshots are hit and miss and the camera movement is a mess.
Still a really enjoyable game but nice not to look at it when sucked into the hype train.

I played the game upon release and I think I was most impressed by the cinematic way it was presented. For instance it has brilliant voice acting, we all know who Nolan North is now and its because of Uncharted.
Like you say its a good game but its not without its flaws, the shooting is ok, but its not very organic, enemies just kind of run out from behind the scenery that is in front of you and it almost feels like a fancy shooting gallery in places (though it does still have some great moments).
Like I said though, its still better than the third game, which actually suffered from the opposite of the first games issues. In the third game the gun fights felt very natural, but that also meant that they were not very fair.Last edited by rmoxon; 02-06-2013, 00:56.

I'm also reminded that Naughty Dog likes British villians too much...
