I think that's the video where there chucking food at each other, scary if your extremely timid!

What's it like as a single player game? not sure anyone I know would want to play this as multiplayer.
Is there a story progression etc., I've never played Singstar before so I'm none the wiser!

Can't say about this one having not played it, but in all but the very first Singstar on PS2 there's no real single player game to speak of. It's strictly score attack.

The very first game had a career mode, but it was nothing to speak of.

Thanks, so is it like you get a grading after each song?

You get a score, maximum being 10,000. It breaks it down into things like golden notes and runs so you can see where you need to improve.

Each thousand point division in your score earns a different rank, over 9,000 gives you the hallowed 'SingStar' rank and you can scream "Top of the pops!" in your mate's face.

....or at least that's how it happens at my place

hehe, I will start using this line

I'm not into any chart stuff really, I can usually be found listening to electronic music whilst stroking my beard.. but this game is a laugh and 'cool' goes out the window in the name of laugh and beer

I'm a little surprised at the people who are into this, I'd always thought it was people's sisters & aunties that made this such a seller over here!

Have you lot been into the other games too or is just this one? I think I've always been one to avoid being the centre of attention in things like this ang Guitar Hero which I've not played either.

Out of interest though, can you listen to the songs via the XMB or is it in-game only?

              EDIT:
Mike, there is a SingStar theme just for you available to download on the PSN.

Guitar Hero's a game I didn't worry about picking up and playing in front of people because you can look cool or forget your surrounding imagining yourself stood in rock stance on top of a skyscaper amongst a dark cloudy red sky, whilst the rain pours and wind blows your hairy mane.

Singstar was forced on me through work, but I soon found out why it's such a big hit. Thought it would be ideal for my girlfriend, so I got it and we both love it. We usually sing normal conversations anyway. I think our neighbours have us down as mentalists

Singstar always has had the 'thirty seconds of twat' factor. The first time you play it you feel so self-conscious , but it's almost guaranteed that by the end of the first song you'll want to do more.

For my money there is no better game to play if you have friends over and alcohol. I think there's only one singstar disc I don't own

Yeah, I thought alcohol would help.

Off topic but I do keep thinking about picking up GuitarHero which seems slightly more respectable.

babs, you hit the nail on the head.

I've played in a band (vocals/guitar) myself and recorded albums in a studio, but I felt SO self concious starting this, but after 2 songs I was loving it.

Superb game, the singstore is amazing and I've already bought 3 tracks. Can't believe that they not only have 2 manics songs, but 1 from James' solo album too!!

Until this year I'd never played a singing game or a guitar game...now I love them both. I always thought they were gimmicky kiddie crap but they are brilliant

UK version works just fine with US console including the singstore.

I love answering my own questions

I love it and I can't sing to save my life. I'm just rubbish and have terrible trouble getting close to the notes I'm meant to hit, but it's still great fun...

When played with people I know every, very well. (Mainly my wife.)

And the windows are closed. (Because the neighbours really, really shouldn't have to suffer my wailing.)

And the curtains are closed. (I tend to find myself with one foot on the floor and one on the sofa, with my head held back and the microphone vertical if I'm not careful.)

Never played a Singstar game, not really my thing since the track-listing suggests to me it's aimed at girls or people into very soft rock. In anycase, how do the varing difficulties work on this? Is it like on Expert you have to hit a Matt Bellamy falsetto for 8 bars or something or sing the song in the proper key or what?

I don't see it working like Rock Band or Guitar Hero where you play bits of the song and not every note, until you hit the higher difficulties and you "play" more of the song.
