The PLAYBACK ERROR is usually a sign that the song you're trying to put into the game is too long.

That's a bug they're well aware of and I think they're fixing it.

I was very impressed with how it all worked aswell.

For recording, i'm setting the resolution to 800x600 and recording at 30fps half size with FRAPS. Then i'm using VirtualDub to convert it to Xvid and MP3 audio. Works perfectly.

So's mine but I will be on this for hours tonight. Probably won't be in bed till about 5am again.

When you get the full version (WHEN), add Valvalion to friends list - That's me. You can see what music your friends are playing and hop on the scoreboards with them.

        Uploading Star Guitar run now.

Yeah i'll buy this when i get paid (curse the ****ing leap year and its new friday) but i'll be there!

It's taken a while to find a decent (self chosen) music game since Vib Ribbon but this is the one. Space Giraffe didnt do it for me sadly.

Edit: in the most recently played I'm still Alive - Portal

            Hehe, yup

That was very, very popular even in the beta.

But because of the whole Audiosurf being on Steam thing, you also get the entire Orange Box OST with it to play.

            Still Alive comes with it.

              Bloody HELL that took ages.

              Star Guitar run.

Passage D by The Flashbulb, Stealth Finish (Which basically means Ninja Mono mode, and not a single grey was hit)

Liquid Lives by Hadouken!, also a stealth finish.

And my favourite run of the night, probably the most difficult run i've done yet - It's Not Over Yet by the Klaxons, stealth finish.

This game is digital crack, for sure... 5:47am, i'm off to bed finally.

I can heartily recommend Celldweller - The Last Firstborn. Wow that was trippy.

You have to buy this, even if you tried the demo. Ninja Mono is where it's at

If that had someone like Mizuguchi's name on it this place would be going fricking mental by now.

Completely zoning out through fast pieces and thinking 'how the hell did I do that?' is this game all over.

                            Exactly.

I've mastered the art of Ninja Mono at the moment. All of my recordings i'm doing are either Stealth Finish (absolutely no grey blocks hit) or restart.

I got about 70% done with Through The Fire And Flames, I was on a complete roll then twitched into a grey and screamed.

I can almost do Lawn Wake II by The Flashbulb, which is actually a really, really challenging song to Stealth.

Babs, what's your steam name / audiosurf name? I'll have to have a go at some of the songs you're trying.

I like it, but I'm not really sold - I mean, I bought it ($10 plus tax, silly not to) but the "difficulty curve" seems way, way too steep. Unless - like some of the people in this thread/on this forum, evidently - you play a relaxing round of Legend of Maxx (or whatever the most recent Beatmania equivalent is) as an aid to dozing off every night. Of course, my ancient PC doesn't help, but I tried it with a few DJ Sharpnel tracks and comfortably finished with gold on Casual... tried Ninja Mono and, well, no. Not a chance in hell. If you think Stealth Finishing anything at 170-180 bpm is easy you're simply too good at videogames to be allowed to have an opinion.

It's very technically impressive, it's still fun to mess around with and if you're a minor deity when it comes to rhythm games it's easy to see how you'd rate it as the best thing released in years. But it's not even slightly as polished or accessible as a Mizuguchi title. Fair enough, it's not trying to be, in a sense. But it's just a top-tier homebrew game with some nifty code under the hood and not that much more.

I agree with a lot of what you've said, but then again i'm aware that's exactly what it is. It IS a homebrew game, coded by one man as an entry in the Independant Games Festival '08.

You're right, it's not trying to be. But i've lost hours, and hours of my time already to this game, it's already given me a sleepless night, and it's the only game i've played today. It's incredibly addictive to me, and just very, very good in my opinion.

What's this Sharpnel song you're trying by the way?

Two more videos up loaded BTW:

Lawn Wake II by The Flashbulb, for some reason my grid completely disappeared in this run but everything else was fine?

Airman Ga Taosenai, by some japanese band i'm not even going to pretend I know.

                                TEAMねこかん or something?
