I totally agree with you guys that with a bit more effort and playtesting they could have made such an outstanding game, but as they went for the rush job I would give them a grade B (great but room for improvement).

Now up to Chapter 9 and I can see why it's hated so much Oh well, by the looks of things the next 5 stages will be worth the pain and effort.

Even though I get my ass handed to me by cheap bosses and rocket-launching ninjas (why on Earth would a ninja be using heavy arsenal like that?! lol) I still keep coming back for more and massacring my way through this brilliant game.
DMC4 is awesome and all (even with its faults), but for me I think I can honestly say I prefer NG2. I know they are not meant to be compared like that really but there are enough similarities if you know what I mean.

I assume you're talking about the fire armadillos? It took me ages to figure out that you are able to press block and survive the attack which makes no sense what so ever!

Mentor is brilliant as it throws more ninjas at you and keeps you on the very edge. You need to be blocking 99.9% of the time or you will get abused by incendary shrukens and rocket soldiers. The ai seems to look to see if you are blocking or not and changes strategy accordingly.

However having said that it can be even more frustrating any hit you take will deal significant damage. You will need to develop proper strategies for the cluster rocket soldiers as they are everywhere. Its so satisfying and also looking forward to doing the game on Master Ninja.

Aggreed if this had a few months extra development time it would have been more polished and definately game of the year. For me it still has to go down as the best action game ever, the more time you spend with it the more you realise how good it is. Had a little go on Acolyte the other day my my is this mode easy how the hell did reviewers struggle with this?

I did the same lol. I managed to kill the first encounter one without blocking and i was like WTF when there was two..then i realized :P

LOLs, I told my mate I completed this on Warrior and he was amazed as he's still stuck on the earlier levels on acolyte.

NG and NG2 are so rewarding, you find yourself improving the more you play. So replaying lower difficulties or earlier levels feels soooooo much easier than they did previously.

this is a insanely frustrating game....not hard just frustrating....bow men/those weird dogs with exploding shruikens.....are all just designed to make me want to smash something

killing those metal monster bastards that appear after killing the ninjas near the start ? I know they are a standard enemy for this level but they just keep spanking me. What's the most effective weapon to use for destroying them ?

are those the guy who keep shooting at your constantly? I just use the dragon sword and use the mid air swipe. do it 2-3 times (depending if the sword is upgraded thus letting you do it 3 times or so) and you'll have them pretty easily.

UT with scythe. This will then put them in a state where they can be obliterated by pressing Y. Alternatively use the fire ninpo.

I just completed it, overall i enjoyed it.

Its a good game, but a bit uninspired in places. Sometime it looks truly amazing, and others it looks kind of unfinished.

The best thing about the game is the weapons and gore to be honest, which is maybe the best of any game i've played. Some of the bosses look kind of goofy, but Elizebet makes up for it :P

The camera is annoying sometimes but once you get used to handling it its actually not as bad as you think. Second time through its a breeze.

By the way did anyone get the idomitable spirit acheivement? lol, i continued 100 times it seems. :P

Yay, I can finally make a post in First Play. Can't remember the last time I bought a brand new game just as it came out.

Really enjoyed Ninja Gaiden 2, finished it on normal on Saturday, now started on mentor. Which is insanely hard, you know you?re in for a raw deal as you watch the first intro again. First level took me about 40mins to beat on normal it took me about 3 hours on hard!

Only the second game, I've finished on my 360. It is frustrating in places, even more so in hard.

The final bosses were a bit of a mixed bag, ranging from pure luck to beat to 100% skill.

Flawed but very enjoyable and rather buggy in places as well.
