Wrap it in spoiler tags then! If you think that *someone* may consider it a spoiler then tag it and they have nothing to moan about. I'm after kinda gut feeling, just to keep my hyped til about 8 tonight.

How long is the start install? Getting this Saturday and I cannot wait!! In the previous games controlling Snake I felt was a bit floaty does he feel more like a person to control?

Looks like MGO is going to be pay for something basis. If you want to create a new character you have to purchase a slot or something. So make sure when you create your character you have something you want.

I haven't started the main game yet, as i wanted to get all the downloads and whatnot out of the way first. Otherwise it might be a bit of a hog in that regard tomorrow.

I've hardly touched it, only played the opening bit, but first impressions are good. One word to describe it so far - CINEMATIC.

But, y'know, it's a bit like watching somebody else playing an unbelievably kick ass game and you're sitting there thinking "Can I have a go, please."

Will give it a proper spin later.

Just played a couple of hours so of it.

Initial Impressions are excellent. The actual stealth works so much better than previous games, there is a genuine sense of tension running into soldiers is quite a bit more stressful than previous games as it is no way near as easy to lose them, expect to be sitting waiting for 3 minutes if you do find somewhere to hide. The environment lends itself really well, running through the streets taking multiple paths through roads and buildings feels really stealthy.

Octocamo is amazing too, I spent quite a while just changing and saving the various camoflage's in the suit's memory. Nice to see that you can manually change the colour of non octocam clothing too!

Graphics are fantastic, so crisp and sharp. I'm SO glad it doesn't look like the godawful PS2 graphics of the MGO beta.
I was initially let down by th jag fest presented on the title screen (Make sure you watch it all!) but then the game started up and I was actually starting to think that it was pre rendered, it looked so great.
A tip to anyone about to start the game, make sure you keep your hands on the controller during cutscenes, they occasionally offer a little interaction.

I'm still getting the hang of the controls, there are so many functions and various different toggling modes that it can be confusing, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it though.

Only downside that has really bugged me so far is that

                  Drebin's

voice is a little generic, I'm sure I'll warm to it no doubt and I imagine

                  he is a minor character

                  .
I love Snake's over enthusiasm for guns, what was that little bar that changed during that cutscene?

Plenty of WTF moments so far too. I WANT

                  Hayter's eyepatch!

A few questions for those who are playing.

Does Snake have a heart attack if that stress metre gets to 100%?

Why does the Camo Index occasionally turn blue?

What is the little circle that surrounds me when I'm hiding?

Don't know about the first 2 question but the circle thing shows where threats are and how much danger you are in. You'll get a spike in the line in the direction of threats and the bigger the spike the closer you are.

Once you get the hang of it you're surprised why it's not been used before. It's really useful when you're crawling around blind areas.

                      1. Duno. EDIT:

Actually i think it's just like the stamina bar in snake eater, just with stress. So if it gets too low you get shakey etc.

                      2. I'm guessing it means the most optimal camoflage for the surroundings.

                      3. That's the threat circle, it shows you where your biggest threats are and where people are in general.

Thanks! I just did the sensible thing and read the manual (I reccomend everyone else does, because the in game tutorial is either very slow as you progress or non existant, plus you can see some hilariously bad comic strips with some horrid speech bubbles anda gun that makes a PUSS noise)

how does it play in 1st person? any comparable to a standard FPS?

Basically, instead of having to hold Triangle to stay in FP view, you can press it. Doesn't really play like an FPS too be honest.

Just noticed something, if you go to mission briefing you can watch a fully fledged MGS cutscene (a VERY interactive one at that) that isn't in the campaign intro (I'm guessing it was chopped out in order to keep things flowing at the start of the game.
Gives you a better idea of what is happening in the game's universe at this point in time and you also get to see a new character...

Loving this so far, played four a couple of hours but just have been messing around with the

                                octocamo suit

                                (which is amazing), the
                                (which is fun!) and

helping out the militia soldiers against the PMC soldiers

                                (which is genuinely rewarding).

The game just looks stunning, Snake's character model is a thing of beauty. The stealth gameplay has been kicked up a notch, there is that genuine feeling of "oh crap I hope I don't get seen". You will feel the uneasy-ness as you hide and wait for a solider (or soldiers) to go past you so you can progress to the next area. I am absolutely loving it, will leave more detailed impressions later.....of to play some more.

Edit - Don't know if this can be seen as spolier but I will spoiler it for now as some people might like to find out for themselves.

I noticed (after messing around in the options) that you set codec output to headset, this is a really nice touch. It basically (if you are wearing a headset of course) outputs all the codec chatter, during gameplay, through the headset so it doesn't "intrude" on the in-game sound effects.

Some might think it is silly but hey I thought it was a neat little touch.
