I dunno if its just me but the codec was competly useless in this game! What the hell was with only 2 people to call...and one of them is pointless.

Yeh I was thinking that the other day, didn't really notice it during my first playthrough as I was that engrossed in it but it was a strange choice not having an army of contacts like the old games on hand to offer funny/witty/helpful comments.

Regarding the DS3 in the game

Did anyone get a black DS3 picture in the Pyscho Mantis cust scene if they were using one, I am using a white one and got the white pic

I enjoyed less codec chatter, I had no problem with it in past MGS games, but alot of codec talk occured whilst playing the game. This helped as it didn't interrupt the flow of the game as much.

Yep. The Acid series, Ghost Babel, and Snake's Revenge are the ones that aren't canon.

Which means all that character development (of Mantis, Wolf and Liquid to some extent) was pretty much in vain.

Shadow Moses did really happen. It was authorised by Solidus (he was president at the time) as a way to undermine the Patriots, and when it went wrong he was forced to resign and hide from them. That's why Raiden was ultimately manipulated into killing him at the end of MGS2.

In that sense, Shadow Moses wasn't intended at all. Not in the sense that it wasn't intended by the Patriots, and also in that FOXHOUND failed to take control of Metal Gear REX and therefore be able to harm the Patriots.

The S3 Plan was an attempt to stage a re-enactment of Shadow Moses, with the intention of proving that people could be controlled through manipulation of information. By resulting in Raiden, a rookie, achieving the same thing as Snake, a decorated veteran, did in the same situation at Shadow Moses, it was a success.

Really don't mind that they've removed a lot of the codec contacts in this game. The contacts were there for a reason previously but they aren't really needed in this one.

                Act 1:

Is it possible to side with the PMCs in this too or can it only be the rebels?

                  no john, only the militia.

                  about the

                  psycho mantis

its probably showing a white pad because its a ps1, not a ps3 dual shock. if you look it shows you the ps1 too

are flashlights just for blinding enemies or is there a way to actually use them as a torch?

PMC's nanomachines prevent them from seeing you as an ally.

Codec? Good riddance! I hated the codec, hated saving via the codec even more.

I asked this question a few pages back, but no one answered. Anyone know?

No, it was definitely a white DS3. I remember seeing the blue text on the top of it and no wire.

Yeah it was a white DS3 for me too.

Does that mean you could CQC them to grab them then

Syringe them to remove the nanomachine effect

and therefore they'll see you as an ally? Anyone tried this?

You'd have thought that would just incapacitate them, i.e.

rolling around going temporarily insane after their link with the System's cut

                                .
