It's like an american remake of a good japanese horror film, seems like they have taken out all the difficult bits, put westerners in it for the masses and tidyed it up a bit, deep down inside though if you have watched the original your still going to love the original.

If people decided to go back to Forbidden Siren after this, good luck with that also. Crap dub or not that game took me months to do, where as i'm upto chapter 6 (half way through) on this from about couple of hours worth of play, will be very curious to see my endgame stats.

Being annoyed at it being a remake is made more bitter by the 9gig's £19.99 worth for a game about 5x's less the size of the original. It's like going to see the american remake of The Ring only to find it's run time is a half hour, the original Siren told the story so much more in depth and so much better, just a shame other people didnt think so.

It is a remake, somewhere along the lines I have been confused and thought it was a different story in the original location of Forbidden Siren. As I said im more annoyed at myself for not reading more into it and forking out, now my painful memories of Forbidden Siren have been tainted more.

Anyways enough of my moaning ive said my bit, I will play through the rest of game and see how it ends up, most likely....

In the original it was a child that survived and everyone else died, So someone will survive and Howard will becomes stuck in siren land with a fat katana slashing Shibuto all over the shop listening to his mp3 player forever, like the first game

I'm glad new people are coming into this series though and it's getting the scores and respect it deserves.
Just a shame the dev's didnt think they could stick with the original cast and storytelling.

Just got the disc version of this today, having never played the original it's all new to me, don't really know what to make of it so far though, controls seem a bit fiddly and the camera on the right analogue seems a bit restrictive, doesn't seem like I've had a lot of actual gameplay either yet.

Graphics are quite nice with it's grainy effect and the atmosphere is pretty tense, I'm assuming it gets better further in, only up to the bit

where you have to stop the shibito getting through the door

      so it's early days yet.

Out of interest how much space does the download version take up, I was preparing myself for a 9GB install so cleared some space in preparation and it only ended up taking just over 5GB.

Received the Asian disc, pretty good game. I like the atmosphere, game is pretty terrifying at some points.

I have not played the original game, so I don't know about this being watered down. Maybe not knowing is for the good.

It's the same game only slight difference is install size.
Think its 5+Gb from disc and 9.1Gb on the download front.

First 2 episodes are short, i'm about 3 hours in and I believe i'm halfway through Episode 4. They get longer and most of all, challenging. Sightjack the shibito, and wait for the right opportunity to make your move. Its exciting.

This game never really seems to bore. Its fast paced and changes around with main chars alot. A bit like Eternal Darkness. I even like the escort missions in this game, thanks to the sightjacking. I especially like the chapters with the little girl, now if thats not survival horror then what is? That hospital was kick ass.

So far I'd say this is the best Survival horror game i've played this side of RE, I like it more than Fatal Frame and even Silent Hill. Its that good imo.

Finally finished this off tonight, had to end with the unlucky numbers on the clock
Enjoyed it in the end, maybe it would have been better if I hadn’t played the original game perhaps, some scenes that were reworked did lose their impact.
It's a fine stand alone game though and really nice reworking of the story and gameplay especially if you haven’t played the original Forbidden Siren game.
Also puts more than enough new stuff into this story with a new timeline ending with..

Bella/Amana being/becoming the same person from past to future and vice versa with Bella falling into the past she becomes a future Amana, Sam's story ending taking him back to 1976 with the original earthquake which destroyed the land originally, a time loop is made and he is stuck there with a note from Howard telling him everything must be repeated so that Bella can exists forever. Howard knew who Sam was from an email he sent him but in that timeline Sam didn’t know he had sent an email and forgot who Howard was but he knows he HAS to keep Bella safe, that’s the only thing he has not forgotten.

So an out-there story and could be deconstructed quite a bit but that's what I got from it.

Incase people didn’t know also when you go to Archive in ANY chapter it will tell you what archives can be found in that level/chapter, so your on Chapter 7 say, if you go to archive and you will see Archive 18,28,54,36 for example. Means those ones can be found on that level, nice to keep track of and I literally discovered it near the end, DOH.

When you finish the game you receive

Siren Blood Curse Ending Theme MP3

and it ROCKS OUT also if you happen to find Howards mobile, on the archive for it has an option to save to the HD, try it and then find where it is, cool when you see what it is, nice little touch. Also give you a challenge mode, which is just a time attack mode against your best play time scores, it has a timer on the HUD ingame.

My endgame stats were as follows...

                          Total Time: 10:55

I enjoyed it from start to finish. I played through a few levels of the original, but i just couldn't put up with the voice acting, it kept distracting me and ruining the atmosphere.

Brilliant game, wish i went with the disc version now though. Oh well.
