Am2 said numerous times that online would be impossible to do when it was getting released for PS3 as they said the frames where too short for some moves and would never work online with latency so VF5 wouldnt get released online and until online changed for the better it was impossible to do and wouldnt make VF what it was. They later back tracked on that when it came out for 360 saying it was down to timing so wanted to get other modes done instead and even hinted at a PS3 patch what never happened.

Comparing it to DOA is totally different as DOA doesnt have small frame moves what you cant pull off without a good network setup a even tiny hint of latency would kill it. VF5 is all about frames and moves like Akiras 1frame knee tests much more than something like Geo wars 2.

Theirs plenty of online games that have loads going on just in different ways. Just because theirs loads of stuff going on screen on Geo Wars 2 doesnt mean out as its not complex their not big files being sent to update your code at your end to whats going on that would keep an opponents screen upto date and it wont be anywhere near as complex as keeping up with world enviroments like BF Bad company/COD4 etc.. for projected bullets and opponents movements, deformation of scenery and so on and it doesnt need even as exact frame timing as VF5 so you could easily get away with a higher latency. I really cant see why it cant be done. They could quite easily do it as a set pattern version like waves and then that would taken even the smallest of burdens of it or even stuff like take it in turns as a hotseat experience online as a competition, plenty of ways to make an online experience other than score attack. I know latencey effects games in different ways and theirs a much higher threshold for a FPS than something like this but again when a 1 frame VF5 online experience has been done then so can this.

Its a shame when we have had some great shooters like Ikaruga rejigged for online action.

Anyway back to the game if anyones intrested the achievements are here (obvious spoilers)

With Akira's one frame knee you do the button combination THEN the move happens due to latency.
There is so much **** flying around the screen in GW that 1 frame wrong cuold equals death.

If the connection doesnt react in time with Akiras move then you wont be able to pull the move off against the opponent because you will have already been hit its not different and its doable due to the net code. The game is reacting to your input and then sending, like everything else if its too slow you would just simply get whacked if it didnt work. I wasnt on about you inputting the 1frame into the knee its about any latency in it being sent and again the reason stated it would never go online because its that what would stop a proper fight as any latency the games already moved on and you get floored. He simply cannot pull the move off for a hit if theirs a hint of latency. It should be a given that if you can do that move you do it with zero error your end, im not on about the human error im on about the input and then that code sent which is no different from any input sent to the game and to the other player as if theirs a hint of latency the player has moved or reacted and you cannot succesfully complete that attack anymore.

GW2 doesnt have mobs that move at you so fast in just one frame to kill you can see em coming long before one frame as its got a smaller hit box than that you so it wouldnt have to update every single frame it could even get away with terrible latency like on Superstar tennis as even juddery it would work. Again I dont see whats so hard about it as yes theirs plenty of mobs flying about but other shumps online have plenty of mobs and bullets flying about. They all work in predictable patterns according to their type of mob and its on a 2d plane.

Again why leave out other modes then? I just dont think a score attack cuts it when they could have a tournament style mode of everyone watching someone play a 3min round then next person and so on or taking it in turns. Theirs stacks of ways to do an online mode other than just co-op you could have a versus mode where if you got x amount of score it dumped more mobs on your opponents screen again very little code being sent and even less if its on set wave patterns or just the waves mode, or you could have a timed 3min mode you both join a room start your game at same time and at end of the 3mins best score wins that wouldnt need to update out hardly and would make a fantastic battle mode instead of just looking at a bunch of numbers. That way you could have a tourmanent style again or wins losses ranked matches instead of just a highscore table.

Fellas, I fail at GWE everytime I give it a little go. I like this sort of game, but lack skills in this particular hardcore shooter... failing to get a single achievment or score close to any of my friends list buddies. Would I FAIL at this too? lol

Paid up for this last night (tried the demo the previous night) and love it. The new game modes for the most part are really good fun. Had a really frustrating moment though when I was on for topping my friends leaderboard (in King) and I got kicked off Live so it never uploaded the score, but other than that, great fun!

I'm not very good at GWE either but its much easier to get decent scores and unlock achievements in this.

Some of the achievements are actually really good fun to try for, like the ones where you can't shoot. Just a shame that once you earn the achievement that's it finished and all you're left to play for is a score.
Would've been good if the likes of "Treaty" were offered as a seperate survival mode or something once you had earnt the achievement.

It just takes abit of practise getting used to how each mode scores. Some modes its better to circle around all time some like waves learn the patterns. Now its harder as you never really wanted to keep still anyway but now you cant as you have to get the bonus. Ive done it so far I charge for the bonus till near enough 100 then I just get em when I can. Luckily I dont play games for achievements so the old fashioned score attack keeps me going. Found some of em abit odd though like the rub the edge of the screen one which I did on me second go last night lol

EEEE has loads going on nice one Kubrick forgot about that one

Ah! The old 'I beat you all but Live didn't upload it' cliche.

I've got all the achievements bar the 'Game Over' and 'Smile' ones, I'll probably get the 'Game Over' one soon as I haven't really attempted it that much but I'm really enjoying all the modes

What's everyones score's in each mode?

I'm pretty happy with my 28 Million run in Pacifism that was pretty mad late on! Got some average-ish score's on the rest but in pretty much all mode's scoring is much easier than that of the first game (I've got 2 Million+ in every mode)

Everything I wanted and more from this game to be honest, deliberately didn't read up on previews or anything so everything is new to me and I love all of it

                        Olly.

I like the way you play the 3min unlimited mode then go to play an hour of pacifist and its like playing two different games going back to shooting stuff again.

Can I add some of you guys to my friends list for when I buy the game tommorow? As I need some more friends on the scoreboard to give me a target.
