Can anyone help me on one of the Giraffe missions I'm stuck on, it's the one not long after you get

I can make out the kanji for tree in the email and it has a video of 2 giraffes heads, tried taking a picture of a giraffe eating from a tree, got a fail, tried a few other angles, tilted the camera etc, still failed. No idea what to do on this one.

i've just been doing this too. took loads of close ups but always failed. just turned it off and had a look at gamefaqs.
apparently you should be able to climb the tree now. gonna have another go later myself.

next up appears to be two missions with elephants, but so far i've only seen them off in the distance.

Glad it's not just me then stuck on that bit, only thing I can think of is that you get given some equipment later to climb a tree. I tried the elephant one earlier and got a D grade because of the distance, luckily I didn't save so I'll try again later when I get a better lens.

Also anyone figured out what the tents for yet.

done it now.
you can indeed climb the tree by going up to it from the side near the water, and pressing circle. then just wait for one to come eat something. the failure pictures i got from just hiding in a bush were closer in on the face though.

i have used the tent once, but not sure if that was me doing something or just a general cutscene.

just one mission available now... looks to be an elephant from close range. so maybe something will happen now to make that doable.

For the elephants one,

is that the one where the video shows an elephant running through the trees at the cameraman? If so you need to go back to the area with the elephants and drive onto the island in the middle with the termite hills. This should trigger a scene and the elephants will now be roaming around the area.

The mission requires you to get a head on picture of an 'angry' elephant so get close enough so that they start making noise and snap away.

Just figured it out myself as well, I was trying to take pictures of the giraffes near the Umbrella tree on the map, it's the ones next to

camera, seems like the game has a lot more depth than I first thought as the

camera has a settings menu with quite a few options, can't make out what everything is for at the minute though.

Photography only. You can't hunt/shoot/kill etc any animals.

i am absolutely loving this.
just done the second big game photoshoot, with the ickle baby hefalump.

got a new lens and opened up a new area with loads of new things. its really a very nice game. they better be working on a sequel with dinosaurs though.

Glad to hear another person enjoying this And mate, I agree completely, there needs to be one with dinosaurs!

Clocked about 15 hrs on this now and I don't think I'm anywhere near to completing it yet, still got about 16 more big game photos to get and my field guide index isn't anywhere near full, I still need to get pictures of female, male or baby versions of certain animals to complete that and theres still a few areas left to unlock on top of that as well as getting all the cameras and items and completing all the missions.

A Dinosaur versions a great idea as well, some of the music in this reminds me of Jurassic Park in places.

Quick question: How import friendly is this? Will you get far at all if you don't understand the missions?

technically i guess you can be mauled by the animals, but you dont see it. if you spook an animal and it gets angry you get a warning with rumble and red vision. if you dont get away soonish then you get a cut scene of the angry animal coming towards you, then you wake up back at camp. having lost all the photos you had in the camera.
so you do have to be a bit careful, but there isnt any gory details... i dont think there is even blood when other animals eat each other.

i guess its reasonably import freindly. missions are given in japanese text with a movie which is a pretty good hint. but as you can see in this thread, sometimes you have to do something specific to prompt events. and i think later on some pictures are more specific with portrait/landscape, times of day, positioning etc. but there are a few sites offering hints where you can get help.
