Well, I hear Mirror's Edge is only £15 in Tesco so I might try my luck and pick it up the same time I go and get some milk later. For £15 you can't go wrong really. Dead Space will be completed tonight once it goes dark outside, I need darkness for both atmosphere and maximum projector goodness of course.

I will replay this on Impossible Mode, my friend watched me up until mission 4 on hard so I will replay up to that point on impossible and gradually chip away at it each time he visits for a sustained experience.

This game is honestly so good that I want to phone up someone in charge at EA and reassure them on how much crap they've produced/published over the years, and that this is a step in the right direction. Some people really do deserve a pat on the back for this game... I never thought we'd see a Resident Evil beater, especially not from EA.

I'm really compelled to see what other games they can develop internally from now on.

EDIT: Just read the review here. I couldn't have put it any better myself without giving loads away. Good job Keith. Well, I could, I could have put 'Dead Space = Dead Good' on the end.

Its audio that does it for me. It was the noise the creatures towards the end of Resi 4 made that scared the crap out of me, its the constant creaking, clanging, shuffling and screaming in Dead Space and thinking back to the dim and distant past System Shock 2 also scared me - again down to excellent audio.

Gore just makes me laugh. Audio makes me poop myself.
This is true. I replayed Resi 4 on the Wii the other day, thinking I'd completed it before on the GC; thus I was immune to any scares, but I forgot about that ambient sound/music, and switched it off after 20 mins....

Just started this after finishing Mirrors Edge. I have come to the conclusion that i still have a real problem playing scary games. I can watch any number of sick and depraved movies but for some reason i have a spack attack with games.
With movies i just don't feel the peril and connection with whats going on screen. Whereas with games i get well into the character usually no matter how dumb they may be.

I think i'll take a bit of a breather and go do some weights (no vents in the garage).

I hear you! Was the scariest game I've ever played. Twice I had the lights off, the projector on and 5.1 headphones on level 11 and the wife came into the room.

I swear I screamed out like a little girl, which then scared the hell out of her, and she also started screaming! Me, the Mrs and wall of projected spaceship in the background as we had a little "Scream for your lives" moment.

          Excellent.

The icing on the cake was that about 1 hour later I got a PM from another member here who was behind me in the game and sharing experiences, and EXACTLY the same happend to him!

          Ace.

            That's awesome!

Being playing this with the other half next to me (she loves a good scary game) and she's leapt out of her seat at least three times that I can count - two of those also caused me to fly into the air and almost drop the pad

This game has turned into a dreary slog. I chose the wrong time to upgrade to suit three and now I have no energy, no ammo and no credits to get more with. I'm at the bit with

              the regenerator

              . Miserable.

                Hmm...

I remember wasting a ton of ammo on this bit, then realised afterwards I didn't need to spend any at all so reloaded my save. Just spam stasis on him until Kendra unlocks the door maybe? Or is the large med room with the operating tables shortly after where you are stuck? In there you only need to kill off his chums before Kendra, again, unlocks the door. With no ammo though I can see that being pretty harsh.

They need a simple 'Restart Mission' option in the menu for dicks like me + Mono, lol. I don't know why I've started using only one save file in games thesedays... when back in the days of limited space I used to ascendingly fill all available slots and go around in a circle. I blame the Dead Rising mindset.

                    Thanks for your suggestions, David.

I actually just managed to do the bit I was stuck on. I had already managed to get passed the room you mentioned, but fatigue had gotten the better of me after constant restarts. The bit I was on, I ended up just running past most of the enemies.

Liking the look of the plantation level. Got loads of cash at the end of Level 5, too.

Awesome. I'm sat here now trying to mentally replay the entire game from start to finish in my head, it shouldn't be too much of a chore breezing through on impossible tbh, the beginning will be hard with **** weapons + gear mind. I didn't even know I could upgrade my HP until around mission 10 or some dumb ****, so that should be good practice for impossible. Stasis is fairly whoreable from what I remember during the first few missions anyhow, I just hope the game doesn't do a Lost Planet and removes the refill tanks dotted around.

Also, I love it how the weapon effects increasingly become beefier with each power upgrade, well worth upgrading everything to the max just to have a look. The Line Gun + Force Gun are both mean motherf**kers with full dmg.

Finally finished this tonight. Bought it on day 1! Has to be the most intense games I've played in a long time and Jesus, it can mess with your head!

Not too sure about that last boss but the ending was great. Deserves GOTY 2008.

After all the great talk about this i was sorely disappointed by the demo on psn.
I just didn't get it, im sure the demo was broken as i cant even get out of the large room i was in, people who've played the demo will know what i mean.

Yeah i wasn't too impressed with the demo either, still going to pick the game up when ive finished Fallout 3 though, sometimes a rubbish demo can really put you off though!

I thought the demo was by no means a fair representation of the full game - I'd previously played the first 20 mins of a mates copy, and the demo was not even close in terms of greatness!

Try renting it or borrowing a friends copy

Thats what i thought, utterly dreadful demo and im sure put a lot of people off buying the game.

Im guna rent it when ive finished my current pile of games and give it a proper chance.
