As would this be if it blooming worked !! Am I really the only one on here playing it on a 360 that's having these issues???

I've had it so that when I fast traveled to specific locations it crashes on me, but luckily the amount of auto saves going on mean you don't lose much progress :/

I think it's for every 1 SPECIAL, you get +2 to the skills associated with it so with your INT at 10 you would already have Medicine +20, Repair +20, Science +20. There's alot of information about character setups here.

On that note, try not to raise your SPECIAL stats to 10 before you get the corresponding

                  bobblehead figure

. There's 1 for each SPECIAL stat and skill, so raising it to 10 and then picking up the

                  bobblehead

                  makes you waste 1 point.

Also, there are lot's of books to be found that raise skills by 1 (by 2 if you pick the perk that doubles it, which I highly recommend). The same goes here, I raised my small guns to 100 early in the game and all the small guns books I picked up afterwards were essentially wasted. And raising SPECIAL stats increases skills also, so those points will be wasted as well.

In short, leave room for these things, try not to max out your skills when you level up.

So when you max your skills and then pick things up, they don't count towards it?

But if you pick things up to max you skills, you can spend the skill points on other skills instead? Is that what you're saying. I am confused as hell with the level system in this.

Still haven't got round to playing it again since my first 6 hour session on Sunday. Been so busy with uni work literally all day and night Monday and Tuesday but keep thinking about the game and wanting to play it. But I'm saving myself for the weekend so I can just sit down for a good few hours and get soaked up in the atmosphere again rather than stick it on for half an hour here and there.

No, it's like this, there's 4 ways to gain skillpoints: leveling up, reading books, raising a SPECIAL stat and picking up

                      bobbleheads

                      .

Every skill has a maximum of 100. So let's say you level up 5 times, you get 20 points per level and put them all in small guns, that gives you 100/100 in small guns. Now, if you read a book or pick up a

                      bobblehead

that raises small guns the bonus you would get from that is wasted since you can't raise the skill above 100.

If you had instead spent a few points on another skill and left small guns at 80/100 the book would've raised it to 81/100 (82/100 if you have that double perk) and the

                      bobblehead

                      would've gotten it to 91/100.

There's quite a few books to be found as well, I've found 54 so far and I reckon there are lot's more.

Hmm interesting, I'm not in danger of maxing any skills out yet but I'm not sure if I'll bother hunting after all the extra stuff to boost them even more. Are there enough skills points available to max every single stat by the time you reach the max level?

A note on exploring; I understand of course that the beauty of this game is that I can wander free without missions to guide me however I'm worried about screwing up missions by doing this. Does anyone know if this is the case?

For example, I go exploring, find a cave with some monsters and a treasure of some sort. I kill all the monsters and sell the treasure. Now if that location was centric to a quest I haven't accepted yet where i had to kill the monsters and get the treasure, does that mean I can't do it anymore and lose out on the xp bonus?

Not by levelling I don't think, 20 levels getting 20 skill points every time only nets you 400 points. Even with tagged skills and perk benefits you would need over 1000 to max out the 13 stats to 100, so I think the key is to max the talents that you use the most first.

It should never give problems when you explore quest areas before starting the quest and I haven't had any so far, but with a game this complex and big I wouldn't be surprised if a problem did occur. That's why it's important to always use multiple manual saves so you can 'rollback' to an earlier point in case anything goes wrong.

You can still take part in the quest, but say for example you have to take item A to person B, then if you have sold the item, you'll fail the quest. However, it will still let you do the quest up until that point.

Obviously killing certain NPC's will mean that you also fail or don't get access to quests.

I just made sure to kill as few NPC's as possible until I was on the last quest and had nothing else to do(I can re-do the two failed quests on my next play through) and then splattered everone as much as the game would let me.

And also, the achievement for killing the Behemoth Mutants can still be done if NPC's kill one or more. I got to

one inside a building and Talen Corp Mercs had already taken care of him

which made me think I'd fail that. but after killing the last one the achievement popped up!

I haven't been reading this thread, so I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but has anyone seen the references to the game 'Snatcher' in Fallout 3?

I didn't find them myself, I saw it on another forum.
