Just so people know, don't enter Jefferson Memorial before you start Scientific Pursuits, as that will glitch the quest and you won't get the achievement for that quest.

    Done it twice now!!!

Thanks for putting that as I'd seen there was a problem with that area and therefore avoided it, now that I know what it is and seeing as I'm well underway with Scientific Persuits I'll go have a look around .

I think the main issue with it is just doing one of the mini tasks before it prompts you to. Even though you've done it, as it was done out of sequence it won't register.

just a quick question, but how do you buy ammo using caps? whenever i go to the ammo store in megaton i have to trade over other things but i can't select to pay with caps??

          strange

I bought this at launch, put a few hours in and due to other games (COD, Mirror's Edge, Gears 2) I've not really touched it for a couple of weeks. I might restart a new game and be evil (the one I'd started I was good) and rejig my skills/stats as I know what sort of character I'm going to play as now. After finishing Fable II as a complete paragon of virtue I think I'm in dire need of heinous behaviour!

Has anyone actually had the chance to put some serious time into being good and evil? Which would you say was more enjoyable?

ok so i want to buy this game, and im sorry if its been answered/and or asked, but is it any good? I mean, i hated oblivion, it was boring. I didnt like the open end world, i prefer set paths in a game, but will i like this? Does the awesome environment and shooting making and more exciting if i hated oblivion?

Also, since my 360 RROD twice i am out of 360's, so is the PS3 version ok? I have read reports about its not as good, but than read where its almost identical in graphics, and those comparison vids i have seen is almost the same. I know about the freezing issues but im sure it will be patched. And DLC im not fussed on, but how does it compare to the 360 version graphically? More bugs, choppy framerate etc?

              Thanks.

If you hated Oblivion, Fallout is not for you. It's very very similar in the way the game works in precisely the ways you hate, extremely open world, no set paths even within dungeons.

About the PS3 version, from what I've read it's a little more faithful to the pc version in terms of graphics but the framerate is a little lower.

So no real differences than with the PS3 to 360 version? Whats all these reviews saying its garbage than?

Anyway thanks for that, i may nor pick it up. Although i still have this urge to, i just know i wont like it.

EDIT: After reading the Bethesda forums for ALL versions of the game i am not grabbing this at all until there is a patch. Its pathetic a game can be riddles with so many bugs, especially a big name release. And it appears to be the same across all platforms not just PS3. No idea why sites are reporting just the PS3 version. Supposedly the PC is the worst of the lot. This would be why IGN changed their review. Oh and i think i will wait for trophies so that i dont have to start the game over as well.

Hmm I dunno, I finished the game, including all the sidequests and lot's of random exploring in about 80 hours. Haven't encountered any serious bugs, the worst that happened were a few crashes and 1 quest went sort of nuts near the end, but resetting the xbox resolved that.

yeah i have heard that also, that some peoples games are not too bad, but than their are the the stories of all those stuffed games. I mean just read the link in my other post to the Bethesda web site. Its scary.

Yup, did it first time being good, second run through as pure evil. Blew up Megaton and killed every NPC not important to the main story. Was great fun until

your father tells you how disappointed he is in you later in the game

                          .

Definitely more enjoyable being evil though.

Ok so i just finished playing and put around 4 hours in in the one session. And so far im enjoying it! Its a welcome suprise actually. Very slow paced and the combat seems a bit iffy (but hey i just came from playing CoD:WAW!)

Its very confusing though. It took time to wrap my head around the PIP and how it worked. Once i got it its just the way the game handles inventory. The VAT system is kinda cool. Makes killing enemies more fun, but i can see why because general killing to me feels sloppy and a mess.

The graphics are OK, Backdrops and buildings seem nice, but character models are pityful. Shenmue looked better on the DC! And i really dont know why they bothered with a third person, does anybody use it? Its awful!

And although it may sound like i dont like the game it is quite good. Very slow, but very intense. The only thing is i dont wanna play it as i want to wait for trophies. Wish they would hurry up!

And on the issues of bugs, well im on PS3 and besides that notification freeze, which is annoying as and im sure will be fixed with a patch, i have had only 1 problem, which i am sure aint PS3 only. When i was exploring some village near where you get out, i got stuck in the scenery and had to restart from last save. Thats it though. No texture pop in yet, no slowdown, no carshing/freezing nothing. I admit its only early days but so far so good. It makes me wonder where these reviews come from. They list all these bugs as PS3 only, yet there on ALL systems, the PC is the worst, and im yet to have any.

Besides that anyway, no way does this game deserve the praise its getting, but nonetheless its a descent game. So far, and it wont change unless it gets AMAZINGLY different, its only a 6-7/10 for me.

On a different note if i was to change this for Bioshock, which would be the better game?

EDIT: After having another quick play through i am taking this back tomorrow. Its just not my thing. I cant seem to get into the game at all. It started fantastic, but theres no narrative plot. Just objectives and yourself. Overhyped and over reviewed methinks. Now just to decide, Little Big Planet or Bioshock. Any opinions?

So I had another massive play last night and I'm struggling on a few issues.

Firstly I'm low on most of my ammo and want to tackle a few kill monsters/rescue NPC style quests. Money isn't too much of a problem but both Megaton and the Family shop are not stocking the bullets I need for my rifles and pistol, they just seem to be stocked with what I have got rid of, any ideas?

Secondly, just been going up against some fire ants (hence the lack of ammo). I know the trick of shooting the

                              antannae to make them frenzy

but it only helps if they come at you in groups. I'm shooting the hell out of them and barely a scratch, essentially I have to wait until I get a lucky critical, is this what I should expect?

The ants can be a real pain if you're low level, I would suggest doing some other missions first. For ammo can just enter random buildings like the school near Megaton or the super duper market, places like that have loads of it and you get even more from killing the raiders.
