Agreed, that last gig in New York is tough. I failed B.Y.O.B. so many times at the start before I finally worked out the strumming speed. Hot for Teacher wasn't as hard as I was expecting, but

Satch Boogie in the Asgard gig

    is crazy!

Got this yesterday and tbh I think its crap. I've only played like 4 songs in the entire setlist I like and all of them are on Rock Band/Rock Band 2. The make a band seems totally unorganised and the career mode just seems like they couldn't be bothered to put any thought into so just gave you x number of gigs to play.

My guitar has broken already aswell, the yellow button won't register me pressing it at least 2-3 times a song. Had exactly the same problem with my GH3 guitar too. Seems like the quality hasn't improved.

I've never sent back a release day game I've been excited about but this is going straight back. Totally unimpressed.

Yead i'd like to hear some thoughts on the Drums. I've read some positive thoughts on them but wondered if it's worth hanging on for the Ion Drums (PS3).

As a new Ion Drum Rocker I would definately definately say its worth hanging on.

I don't need to see, play or touch the GH set to say that!

Surely it's not so much a question of quality, rather a question of a)whether you can afford them and b) if so is it worth it for you?

The quality of the Ion Drums is never in doubt.

Bought the guitar and game bundle, is anybody else having an uncontrollably squeaky strum bar?

The general consensus seems to be that both sets of drums are great, but where the Rock Band drums work well in GHWT, the GH drums are pretty poor in RB. So, whichever game you're likely to play more should form the basis of any decision.

Get an Ion tbh, make everyone jealous!

You can always look longingly at the pics and video I did of the Ion drums and imagine till next year

No question for me the ION definetly the way forward. Going from fisherprice toy to a proper drumkit when you compare the rest.

Yeah i know mate but untill next year i can only dream at thos pcs

EDIT; GHWT Drums (PS3)wont work on Rock band 2 as they just register as a microphone and PS3 owners have to wait for a patch which is realy gutting but GHWT guitar works fine on RB2..So again PS3 gets shafted over 360..Sigh.

Are all these impressions from the 360 version? I am working out whether to get 360 or Wii version. The advantage of the Wii version is my relatives have Wii's and it would ace for Christmas. I take it the Wii version doesn't have the DLC?

Ok. Here is my first impressions of this from last night on Xbox 360. Apologies if they are garbled, but thats my style!

Firstly the instruments. The new wireless guitar seems to be well built. I havn't had a huge amount of time on it so far, but my guests seemed to like it. The wife used the touch pad bit and said it was 'cool'.

The drums are great. They are more substantial than their rock band conterparts, and after realising that I can lefty flip them, I think they feel more natural, largely thanks to the positioning of the cymbal pads.

I'm not too sure if it is down to me being generally **** at them so far, but the sensitivity of the red drum and yellow cymbal seems to be a bit out so I have requested a midi cable to adjust it for myself. This maybe is me over reacting after reading the horror stories of america, but I may as well. They do seem to work though. The bass pedal is also more solid than rock bands.

Now the game itself. Most of my time last night was spent doing full band with my guests. It was quite a frustrating affair at first, as if one fails you all do, and I was the only 'seasoned' music game player in the room! It did get better once people were on easy level, but beginner level is a waste of space, with the drummer only getting to use the kick pedel, and the guitar/bass only doing open notes.

It is usually against my principles, but I imputed the cheat for full song unlocking for the full benefit of those at my house, as the initial selection doesn't offer the best in the game. The songs we tried ranged from brilliant (everlong, b.y.o.b, band on the run) to boring dirges (hotel california, the joker), but there is something for everyone on the list.

I manged to do the first stage of the solo drum career before I called it a night. I created a custom drummer (seems very detailed, but couldn't be bothered as I just wanted to play!), then played a three song setlist (including encore).

The other thing I had a wee look at was the user created content. There does seem to be some decent stuff out there, but I fear a lot of it has been pulled for fear of copyright, which is a real shame. Someone has made a lovely rocking version of ghosts and goblins music, which I rekon I'll nab for me collection.

Anyway, thats my impressions for the time being. I would be playing more right now, but I'm stuck at work!

*Maybe we could make a thread recommending decent user content if anyone else is interested? *
