I use bonnet cam all time in cars and close on bikes now. Started with the further back view but find tweaking the slides better with the closer view.

Sorry - when I said "in car view" i meant "bumper cam" i.e. nothing of the car shown on the screen.
I'm not interested in seeing the car - I want to see the obstacles! The problem with both views is the car obscures the obstacles and when the whole screen is effectively the "track" it creates a problem.

Only finally got round to starting this last night. Evolution/Motorstorm were the reason I had to have a PS3 at launch but I didn't spend anywhere near the amount of time with it that I thought I would have. I got off to a good start with Motorstorm 2 though.
I've just earned my 1 hour of racing trophy, having won about 8 races. I'm a bit impatient in that I want to race online (won my only casual race) but don't actually know the courses and routes yet (finished 4th and 6th in rank races). It's not particularly generous with the trophies though, is it!

I picked MS2 up as a impulse purchase and regreted it on the way home as i didn't particularly care for the first one. Glad i did get it though, massive improvement on the first game.

I do like this given I never took to the original but I can only play it in short bursts. My main niggle comes from the damage model. It's terrible. For the third game I'd really like for Evolution to decide if they're making an arcade style racer or not. Rattling along with the boost on full and then losing the whole race because of a random post of wood or tall grass collision just causes me to reach for the off button. It's like it's going for a streak of Burnout but without the careful design. If the cars were a little more sturdy I'd find this much more fun.

know what you mean, I find it a bit irritating to play as well, shame as get the feeling (yet again) there is a great Motorstorm in there somewhere, just some design choices don't sit well with me.
I want to be on the edge of handling all the time in an offroader but feel its just in control (like Pure), cars feel a bit floaty and on ice to me in this.

Every vehicle and every shell on that vehicle handles differrently you just have to learn to unlock them and choose one that handles right for you. IE some buggy shells handle really bad, some handle really well but have firm suspension so bounce like crazy and some dont grip very well.
Online it really comes into its own for me one of best GOTY as theirs so many different routes to take and of course it hinders and helps to choose the right one for your vehicle (ie bike dont go near water so thats against you on some tracks but they will also purposely but bits on the same track what only bikes can get thru).

Right, I got this last week and I can confidently say it is the most ****ing unfair and stupidly cruel game I have ever played in my life and has made my blood pressure rise by about 500%, I literally can't play it any more or I'll go ****ing mental and kill someone. It's not the graphics- at times the game can be absolutely beautiful (although generally it looks rough and messy.. I get that is the style of the game but next to Burnout Paradise or Wipeout HD it doesn't compare well). The music is mostly crap -although it does have that great song from the Guinness advert- a problem that can be solved by using custom soundtracks. The track design is good, the races are varied as are the vehicles, online works well, it has some interesting Trophies and a 4 player split screen mode which works great, there is much to like about this game.
So why so kill someone over it?
The ****ing AI for starters cheats like a teenage girl, you can be in first place then take a short cut only to have 8 other players overtake you into the final corner and speed off to beat you.. even if you're in the fastest vehicle and boosting they will either destroy you (just touching another vehicle in this game makes you explode and die regardless of if it's your fault or not, losing about 10 ****ing places in the process) or just win without a hint of an explanation as to how. This is called rubber-banding, which artificially keeps the players near you to make the race more exciting, anybody that has played single player Mario Kart will know what I'm talking about. Problem is here it is over the top- there is literally nothing you can do to win some of these races except hope that the computer is going to let you win. Which, due to them attacking you or being propelled ahead of you is very rare.
It halts progress and really makes me furious, it has turned a great game into something I ****ing HATE.. I think I'm going to have to get rid of this as I will take a human life if I experience one more incident of cheating by the AI. It reminds me of those times where yo go to Tesco, see there is nobody queuing at the checkout, turn round to grab a drink then look back to see the entire population of your county stood there buying their yearly food shopping. Slowly. With coupons. I guess the game is not designed for me, it is designed for teenage boys with dirty white socks who love listening to LOUD RAWK, enjoy watching wrestling, don't bother washing and swear in every sentence- something I'd never ****ing do. 20 years of playing racing games and none have pissed me off like this has, the way the developers ruined Motorstorm 2 is a real shame because it came so close to being a first class title, as it is I sadly now can't recommend it to anybody except Masochists.Last edited by Flompy; 09-03-2009, 21:02.

i got this for christmas, and it was pretty much the only thing i played for over a month.
it seems massively unfair at first, and terribly random. but its not at all. you come to learn the tracks and know where all the nasty little bumps are, and to steer clear of the opposition at the right time.
i was amazed i managed to unlock the final set of races. its a brilliant game... and i didnt even touch online.
