      Hmmm...

I just remember killing the Corpsers. But I'm on Normal difficulty so it could require much more speed and accuracy in higher difficulties. Aim for their heads and let rip.

        cool

im on hardcore, and all 3 are protecting themselves, might require more accuracy? will keep plugging away when i get home now!!

The campaign is much better this time, each act takes you to so many different locations so you never know where you'll end up. I'd go as far to say that each act was more interesting than the entire Gears1 campaign.

At the end of Act3 now and am continually blown away by the graphics. I wasn't so impressed at the beginning because the game is a bit bland outside, but in the caves it is amazing. I can't believe what I'm seeing sometimes, and at no point have I seen the engine struggle or the designers having to throw in tricks to get around hardware limitations.

I'm not a huge Gears fan but I am enjoying this a lot more than the original. Having said that once I've cleared single player and gone through it on coop, I'll probably trade it in for something else. Had a few goes on multiplayer last night and I just don't get on with it at all, and that's because I still don't like the mechanics that much.

Still, the ride of the single player is enough for now

I finished this on Hardcore last night and it seemed easier than I remember compared to Gears' Hardcore difficulty. Will be starting an Insane play through next week.

I loved it, just like the first one you feel like you're playing a film and the music and graphics are beautiful.

What was the communication about at the end of the credits? What's going on with him and her?

Finally got a copy of this yesterday. The good lady and I started playing it last night and I'm well impressed. It's like a fine tuned GoW with slightly better visuals and familiar game mechanics.
It will undoubtedly be quite short and leave room for another sequel but looks like we're in for a hell of a ride.

I got my copy of this on thursday and i've been hammering it til the early hours every night and I absolutely love it. I have finished the single player story nd started again on insane, it's that good.

I honestly didn't think they could make a game better looking and a game better playing than the first gears, but they have somehow pulled it off. The game never stops being in your face with a shovel full of action.

Horde mode is more fun that what it sounds on paper, fighting off waves of enemies is one of the most enjoyable struggles i've played with friends for long time. Strategies, tactics and all out warfare are needed, especially on insane mode. Somehow 5 of us got to level 20 on insane, but that was our end game. Not too bad I thought.

I do have a few minor gripes with the game, but these lay only in the menus.

Does anyone know where to check your single player and co-op campaign progress?

In Gears 1 you had a menu which labelled what levels I have finished, what mode and what difficulty setting. But in gears 2 i'm finiding it hard to know which acts I have played in co-op.

Overall, this has topped Dead Space, Fable 2 and Fallout 3 as my favourite games of the year and I will be playing this for many, many weeks to come.

Only way Ive found to check is to start a new game and it lists the chapters you have unlocked. Its how I found out today that I was on act 2 not 1 when I finished. Im currently pulling my hair out as I stupidly at dinner time today decided to look at the unlock section. Ive finished GOW1 over 25 times (I lost cout after that I think its 27 not sure) and did it again other week on hardcore on co-op. When I beat it very first time it was on my old machine on boxing day 2yrs ago then 3 days later insane (as bought an elite since). I noticed it hadnt unlocked me for the characters from 1 for beating it. Stupidly I shoved my old HDD in and started migration only to find out now its going to take an hour and then obviously another hour when I go back to my 120gig drive so thats 2hours wasted. Ive since found out loads of others are having the same issues on official forum so looks like a bug so Ive wasted 2hours today when all I was going to do was continue on single player where I left off. I aint even going near multi till I finish it as want zero spoilers so Im currently banging my head against objects because I cant cancel now.

Game itself is fantastic to where I got to on act 2. It took GOW1 carnage and x3 it. First time I saw people getting a hand back up near death made me shout yea the telly as always wanted this for both sides. Im abit worried about all the bugs online on the forums and save wiping posts though as I had that happen loads on the PC as it was save tagged to live and very VERY buggy. Difficulty it seems slightly easier on hardcore than GOW1 but I put that down to using the Locust weapon all time now, think it needs abit of a balance as its very powerfull compared to the lancer. Their does seem to be alot more Locust to kill on a section though but Ive only died a few times and then that was because of set pieces not actual Locust fighting.

Edit - Got my chars from first one thankfully off the old HDD. So it looks like the unlocks are HDD unlockable only. Scarey thing is their doesnt seem to be a save system for GOW1 when you check the HDD. It found em straight away when I booted. Thankfully putting my old HDD I didnt have to recover my tag (did think you had to keep doing that) and it unlocked em yet again on the new HDD. Very odd indeed.

Just played a level that is exactly like

                      Panzer Dragoon

, only slightly faster and somehow more exciting. It's not very original, granted, but it's good to see Epic borrowing from the best and doing it exceptionally well. Would love to see em do a whole game like that.

You dont actualy have to rush

its not the corpsers that are killing you, its your rockets bouncing off their legs and back at you, you just have to wait until they lift their legs and they die in one hit each.

The single player game just keeps getting better and better!!

Just got to the abandoned base after hacking my way out of that giant worm. Shades of Empire Strikes Back when the chopper got swallowed

I too found the first level to be quite drab but the artistic design and pace of the game has really taken off since then. I can't wait to see where it finishes (no doubt with a cliffhanger and 2 year wait for the 3rd game )

The one thing that is really pissing me off is the multiplayer. Why I have to sit there for 10 minutes while the game tries to find me a team to go and shoot random strangers is beyond me. Surely there are thousands of people wanting to play too? It should be a system where someone creates a lobby and you can join if there are spots and it's the game type that you want to play.

Only a few weeks to go before 2009 starts and we all start reflecting on our top 5 GOTY. Need to finish the single player mode first but I've a feeling this could be one of them

After the relatively poor start, the game picks up in the
                              - it looks stunning. The scale and detail are beyond what I thought the 360 could push with UE3. Great effects. Only gripe is the "poor" map making shown on the ground. For anyone who hasn't used UE3, you basically have to put a Player-Clip-Brush along all floors and walls. The models you use on the floors and walls are really detailed with a lot of triangles, they're not flat with a texture. The result is a real headache with clipping if you don't add a special clip brush over it. Alas the map makers at times seem to have placed these clip brushes too high about the real surface, so everyone is floating a foot or two above the ground. A shame, and very easy to rectify with a bit of care.

Hoping the multiplayer gets patched as it's pretty broken right now

                                The bit where

Dom finally meets Maria was an emotional moment
