This for me makes it feel more "Hollywood" and far easier on Hardcore than I remember. This may also be because I beat GOW on Insane, so my skillz are better than my first taste of GOW Hardcore in 2006.
The game is ALOT harder on insane, IMO the jump between hardcore and insane seems alot larger here than in the first game. I'm currently having trouble with the early stages of the second act becuase its so tough, where as on hardcore i dont think i actualy died until I reached

      the inside of the worm

aye agreed, also on insane once youre down thats it, cant get revived by AI

You cant get revived on hardcore either m8 when your down thats it game over on solo just like first thats why act 5 took me so long with Dom lets sit in a corner and cry instead of fighting.

ah right, guess i havent died that much in hardcore hehe, but seriously this game needs patching because im on the defend the com tower bit on insane, and let me tell you there is absolutly no way you can do it 1player, kill 4-5 reavers who each shoot out a dish in 1 rocket shot, its completly impossible, fk this game

Largo, I know it doesn't help, but I did that bit first time, and I spent about a minute searching for a collectable while the Reavers were attacking.

Just noticed I haven't added to the gushing, so here's my bit:

I loved this game. I've done Hardcore all the way through, Act 5 and half of Act 4 on Insane ... brilliant stuff, even when your co-op player is some annoying schoolkid who doesn't stop yapping. The

              sinking cities

sections were my faves: the graphics on these levels are stunning, and the bit with the

              elevator going sideways

              made me laugh out loud.

The usual run-and-gun is nicely broken up with some other stuff ... my heart sank when I encountered a vehicle section (as the one in Gears1 is naff), but thankfully this one is excellent, and the bits on the

              Reavers and Brumaks

ain't too shabby either, though the former was a bit long-winded.

Like most people, I got a couple of odd bugs on the way ... weirdest one was where my controls seemed to rotate 90 degrees (left = up, etc), and my character moved like a crab. Nothing that a quick "restart from checkpoint" didn't solve though.

Horde is fabulous too. Me and a bunch of other guys went from wave 1 to 21 with some fantastic strategic maneuvers ... unfortunately we all got ripped apart on the next wave when the enemies spawned directly behind our stronghold. I'm really getting into co-op games in a big way.

The only sore point is the multiplayer matchmaking: every time I try to get a game, it seems to go into some cycle of finding players then "resetting" for about 5 minutes before it starts. I expect they'll fix this. (Also, I can't seem to find any way to set up a match to your own preferences ... everything seems to be fixed to 5 rounds. Is this just cos it's a public match? Can I setup a 19-round epic in private match mode?)

Top stuff, and I'm glad I shelled out for it on release.

I'd love to write a huge post about how much the single player rocks, but I'll sum it up like this: Gears of War 2 is a sequel done right. Probably the best sequel since Resi 4.

Have you realised that you can cool the turrets down ALOT quicker if you hold the reload button?

I didnt realise this and had trouble on all the turret sections on my first play through.

I'm glad you said this. I think I'm up to the start of Act 2 (is it? The part where the town is falling into the sink-hole and there's fire everywhere) and it's been a little bit up to now.

                      Great but still

Youve nearly completed the game if youre on that bit.

Theres a earlier bit like that in act 2.

Jeez, I was going to say. Nearly at the end? I've only played it for 1.5 hours. I'd heard it was short but blimey...

(Do you think I need to spoilerise my previous post? It's quite near the beginning of the game and not particularly important.)
