forgive me if im missing something but it seems the co-op isnt the campaign but a load of single mission games with cut down gfx.
That's what it was always meant to be. For a laugh, go and post your comment on the R2 thread on B3D......

I love the way that even in the first 90 mins the game throws a few big guys at you for those 'OH CRAP' moments

Admittedly, if it wasn't for those it would be generic shooter city but these really add to the game.

I think it looks great btw, certainly better than Halo 3 but then that wouldn't be all that difficult.

Hmmm anyone else not impressed with the gfx on this, texture work seems very low res and running it in 1080 makes the ui look soo low res its just readable.

Anyone else having contol issues with this game? It frequently wants to keep looking left at random intervals when I move. Aiming is fine however. I'm guessing there's something up with my pad but it works fine with everything else....

I've turned everything off twice and the pad is fully charged but it keeps doing it and it's ruining the game somewhat

One of my pads kept doing that in the first resistance, very weird

That's a bit strange, the only time I've had anything similar was when I turned the PS3 on and the DS3 was upside down on the floor with the sticks flattened by the weight. When I started the PS3 it read the position the sticks were in as the centre position so it was constantly moving me to the left when the stick was centred.

Seriously. These publishers need to talk to each other. I am gagging for this game but there's just too much in my unplayed list already. Gonna have to wait for now...

The co-op on this really works well for me. It reminds me more of raids in WoW than any other shooter.

Just set up an online thread for this. Usual thing, add your details and we'll get you on the list.

Just finished the single player campaign, absolutely loved it. I'm going to make a bold statement here, I actually enjoyed it more than the single player campaign mode of Halo 3 and I loved Halo 3!

The final boss fight was a bit easy but everything leading up to that was brilliant. The big set piece battles, the weapons, the enemies, the look of the game and even the story, everything was great. I played on normal and the game was pretty much the perfect challenge. I never felt like I was being hounded unfairly and if I died it was always my fault for staying out in the open too long! My favourite section has to be the one is Chicago and the battle against the

Leviathan or as I like to call him "The Cloverfield Monster"

, it was truly awesome. There were some other top notch parts too such as the "fight" with

                      the Swarm

but the part I just mentioned does truly stand out.

9/10 from me, Insomniac have improved on the original and then some. OK then, now for some co-op and online action

Interesting, a refinement of R1 or something else entirely......

Wow, this has been a welcome surprise. It's definitely a lot better than the first game. It's still a little rough in places. Sgt. Nathan Hale is only fractionally more interesting than he was in Fall of Man, the story is as meh as ever, but the combat is a whole lot of fun. It manages to keep things interesting by throwing an assortment of different opponents at you on a fairly regular basis, and the variety of weapons you get to play around with is just awesome.

The game looks quite nice in places, too. A lot more colourful than most other shooters out there. Making my way through desolate ghost towns, which have been taken over by the Chimera, has been one of this year's gaming highlights. I really like some of the new species, too. Can't remember what they are called, but those

                          pod zombies

                          are teh evil.

If I have to gripe, it's that enemies tend to ignore your teammates and head straight for you. It kind of spoils the immersion a bit. And there has been a few cheap, instant deaths. It also felt a bit weird using L2 for both sprinting and crouching, but you can change that to something which feels slightly more natural in the settings.

Other than that, the single player has been great fun so far. I mean, I had to force myself to turn it off yesterday because I didn't want to complete it in one weekend. Still, nice problem to have, considering the first game was a slog to finish.

I'm enjoying it too, along with PrayforMojo, I'm trying my best not to play it during the week (single player), and save it for my longer Friday night session's where I'll get more from it - diffucult though.

The eight player coop is fantastic, never played coop of any kind before but this has to be alongside the very best.

i really enjoyed it too - story was the usual hocum, but the combat was very good and the battles fairly intense. Some of the graphics in the set pieces were stunning - highly recommeded

I’ve played a fair chunk of this game.

It’s quite good but really, nothing special. In fact it’s a very regressive fps. I have to agree with the comments made by Edge magazine. It’s so very vanilla, run of the mill; middle of the road, but with everything turned up to 11.

I have been enjoying it but it feels like a time warp back to the id days of the mid nineties.

To me, the fps genre has to evolve to keep things interesting and it’s doing so in a similar way to the Japanese shooter scene. They all need a hook, something that distinguishes it from the norm, makes it unique.

It’s like Halo:CE never happened. That game really shook things up with its progressive AI, squad formations and especially the recharging shield mechanic. It wasn’t afraid to reset the player’s progression. The AI would have to take cover to recharge the shield giving the player a small window to finish the job. If they didn’t it was back to square one. Combat had a whole new dynamic which really should have completely revolutionised the genre, but it seems to be lost on so many players and developers. Halo 1 took so many progressive steps that even Bungie have failed to build on in their sequels!

The most amazing fps would take the open natured, flawlessly streamed terrain of Far Cry 2, the Unpredictable dynamic level design from the Left 4 Dead Director and the previously mentioned “tug of war” combat of the original Halo.

Well there is nothing here that pushes the genre forward. It’s all BULLET SPONGE attrition. I guess if you aim for the head they take slightly less bullets to fall over.

The AI is rubbish; they either stand still or make a straight b-line for Hale ignoring all the other team mates. Sometime you might be lucky and see an enemy stuck in a tightly scripted “pop in and out of cover” loop.

Normal diff is quite hard but I don’t mind that. It’s so very cheap though.
Venturing into the unknown will often get you killed. The best “strategy” is to wander ahead and notice all the blatantly obvious scripted event triggers and abuse them with your prior knowledge.

Still the game is decent and I’d rather consider it for what it is rather than what it isn’t. It’s bog standard mindless arcade shooter fun.

The multiplayer is quite retarded though. (can't comment on the co-op, i've yet to try it.)
