Playing on Hardened and enjoying it but there are a few annoying moments where the game dosent seem that well designed when playing on a higher diffculty level.

      For instance the part where

The grenade goes off in the downed plane and you are ambushed by japanese

is impossible if you actualy attempt to stand and fight, instead you have to run off like a girl back to where you came from while your friends kill them all.

Also the first russian mission with the

Super sniper who seems to be able to kill you in one shot without requiring any time to aim at you once he pops out

      is unfair and very frustrating.

Besides that though as I said i'm enjoying it, The flamethrower is awesome, which must be a first really as they are usualy crap in games

Anyone help with what looks like the ending bit as Im stuck on hardcore and dunno what to do

got told I need to enter the berlin building but theirs wire everywhere and nowhere in he just says push forward and then we all sit their and end up getting blown to bits. Doesnt help that Ive just reset the machine and it didnt save my checkpoint so ive got to do the entire level again including the awful blow 3 aa guns up on hardcore which is more blind luck than skil

Forget it it was a stupid bug its worked now.

My initial impressions of this wasn't great. Firstly the pre-level presentation doesn't really fit with the WW2 setting, it's just too arty-farty and I think it looks plain odd. Then actually in the game I was insta-killed 2 minutes in by having a bayonet shoved through my spine by some kind of ninja that spawned behind me. Then I reached an area where the huts have some kind of force field stopping Americans from entering, but it seems the Japanese troops could walk through no problem. Then I reached the second level and everything was forgiven, I can now let the games shortcomings wash over me and enjoy the game. I also have to say the game looks bloody good at times, which is good going considering I've been playing GoW2 recently. Looking forward to taking it online as I rate CoD3 over CoD4, just prefer the WW2 setting.

The co-op in this seems very poorly integrated, probably because I've been spoilt by Gears of War 2. It doesn't feel like 2 characters in the same game, it's more like you're just playing the same character. I think I'll leave the co-op campaign alone and continue in single player

I have played this tonight on Free For All online.

So much good yet so much bad.

Grahically, design, speed etc same in many ways as per COD4, graphically better in some areas. Sound; someone walking / running is a joke, in fact sound is not that great in many areas and i always play with headphones. Guns for higher ranking are much beter which is annyoing when starting out. Also maps seem too big.

Also, spotting someone is really hard (maybe it is meant that way?) But for onlne gaming fun so far it comes up short for me.

I complained about the dogs in the Beta, and , I still complain, they are annoying as hell and frankly go onfor far too long. Please releasre a patch!

For comparison, I play COD4 every day as much as I can (131,000 kills and several gold weapons, I have never played any game this long in my 50 yr life!)

So I want to love this one, but so far it reminds of totty that looks good from a distance, but on closer insection, it becomes, nah..

              I will perservere.......

Finished it. Really enjoyed it up to last 3rd then it becomes all the niggles of COD4 with more infinite spawn barriers to pop, thick AI then amazing AI around the next corner and the weird same COD4 cant even bunny hop over certain low areas so have to go around.

Playing GOW2 horde for first time same night I was 2/3 thru on this did me no favours as up to then I was really enjoying it but it brought home what is so wrong with current FPS games that they just dont offer any real skill. You cant sit back and clear a room properly on these you have to learn to clear the first batch and zip past to stop em re popping. Last night when I got stuck near the end the parrot fashion I did for 3hours to get past in the end was run around a wall up some stairs shiv a bloke near the bottom of the barrier then lay prone and kill over 100 germans respawning over the top of me till hopefully the barrier eventually worked and the script moved on to the set piece and next scene. It eventually did that but it left no room for error, no enjoyment and I couldnt stand back and just fight properly and its this I had the same problem with COD4 on the harder levels their just not fun their about learning the spawn barrier in the room and trying to break it to move onto the next one.

Id still give it an 8 as up to the last parts its really good but please guys stop making infinite respawns now its time to move on.

Started with the multiplayer and do really like it. So glad the tanks don't dominate their maps. The move to more open maps is a slight disappointment but that might be just because I'm not as familiar with them as I am COD4's. I'm picking through the SP on Veteran too, not that hard so far and bar any expectations of a gameplay leap over COD4 I can't see many reasons why this might not turn out to be the better game.

i found that killing the sniper not hard, but going through the house on fire is stupid difficult, im just getting burned trying to get up the stairs and whatever i do i just cant do it, must of tired at least 50 times now at LEAST! i shoot the men but its the fire that kills me just cant make it up the stairs, anyone find this bit hard?

EDIT: just done it how stupid~!

As Ive already said, there are loads of bits in this that dont seem to have been playtested properly on harder difficulties, there are certain parts where invisible snipers in trees are seemingly suppose to hit you for instance, that must be to add tension to the game, but on harder difficulties they just cause your death.

Ive actualy reverted to playing on normal now, as these design flaws along with the fact that constantly dying takes away your appreciation of the setpeices left me not enjoying it on hardcore as much as I felt i should have been

needless to say i'm finding it alot more fun on normal.

And Dazzyman, there are no infinite spawn barries in this game, just like they wernt in COD 4, you just have to kill crap loads of men before they stop spawning.

I remember that bit in the tv station in COD 4 on veteran, you had to kill about 100 men (thats you kill them, not your A.I. teammates, that dosnet count) befoire they stoped spawning. I never ran to checkpoints until id killed everyone though, thats why i didnt find it that difficult and also why i know there was no infinite spawns.

ive enjoyed it so far...played around half of it on solo and online co-op...
glad you can level up your online profile even playing private co-op, starting multiplayer at level 8 will hopefully be less painful (although i still expect to get owned)

id agree with you there, on harder difficulties the AI is more of a problem, because it takes less to kill you on harder settings. For example, numerous times i would run to get behind cover only to get some stupid teamate AI come and get at the same cover and push me out of cover resulting in me being shot, also in the trenches when nades are thrown at you, countless times you run back but oh no your teammates are there blocking your way and you die, thanks for the help guys!

O and i love when your "teamates" run onto the next section so you think oh right lets move forward and you see your "teamates" shooting ahead of you and you find theres still enemies lurking in the same area as them sometimes standing right by them and then bang your down.

Loving the game but playing on Veteren is more frustrating then hard because of some of these problems, but most of you who are playing the easier settings wont notice much of these or will shrug them off because it does not lead to your downfall.

i agree with Daz i thought that they do just keep spawning until you advance.

Yeah its a common misconception that the COD games have infinite spawning enemies, they dont and never have had.

IMO COD4 was extreamly easy on Veteran besides a few bits that again didnt seem that well designed for harder difficulties. All you had to do most of the time was stand back and keep killing enmies until they stoped spawning then move on to the next checkpoint. As I said earlier, this is actualy a much easier method than running to checkpoints in between hails of bullets.

But of course you need alot of paientce too becuase as ive said at certain points you have to kill ALOT of enemies before they stop respawning. This actualy made sense in COD 2 and this game, though it was slightly odd in COD4 becuase you had to wonder where all the reinforcments were coming from as most of the game didnt take place on open battlefields.

Man that's my biggest problem with the game. The AI pushing you out of cover/taking all the best cover. In most other games, they move. Not in this one. They frequently block me and cause my death, frustrating as hell.

Is the constant respawning present in this game like COD4? I remember shooting enemies for 25 minutes in COD4 and only way for them to stop coming was to advance.
