May sound silly but ALL I wanted from this game was free flowing one hit combat alongside all the free running.
I literally wanted to be able to slide through guys legs, whilst punching them in the balls disarming them, run straight at someone just jump on there back and take them out in one hit all without losing momentum, like a crazy ninja. That's all I wanted.
Confrontations just felt off at times and that server room level wound me up like a bitch, If I think Mirrors Edge I think of that damn level!
This game deserves a sequel to refine it and make it all better.

I'm willing to guess that ME2 will not have a core gameplay mechanic based on sliding through guys legs and punching them in the balls unless Germaine Greer has taken a position at DICE as Creative Director.

This is the most frustrating game I've ever played. Leaving aside the ****tiest of combat and horrendous checkpoints, what's the point of runner vision if it doesn't appear half the time and when you most need it?

I'm currently running around a dull warehouse thing, the B button helpfully directs my vision to the very top, and I've got no idea how to get up there because there's no clue at all in the room. There are 200 things I can jump and climb on and I've got to somehow find the invisible 201st that they've hidden so well so it can pretend to be challenging in some way. I don't want this ****ty challenge, I want to be running fast and jumping off roofs.

EDIT: Done it. Only one chapter to go, thank God, then I can start messing with the fun stuff instead.

I hope you took the advice of everyone in this thread and did the game on "easy" mode?

I'm going to have to play this tonight now.

Am I the only one who found the combat to be the best bit? I'd happily have an entire FPS built around the engine/controls of Mirror's Edge. Guns which slow you down, no HUD to show how many bullets are left (this is SO bloody cool!), and a generally ineffectuality when it comes to using them. Totally exciting. Felt like Bruce Willis in Diehard when I got a pistol and had to take down some machinegun toting nutjobs. And then I'm asking myself: "Did I fire six shots, or only five?"

Also, what fun stuff? The post-game options are unbearably dull and pointless. I've tried repeatedly to play the time trials, but without any storyline or gunplay, I find myself asking: what is the point? The levels I've seen in time trial just go over the story-mode maps anyway, so I'd rather play those again. The storyline itself is crap, but I loved having people talk to me over the radio, telling me where an exit was. It was like The Matrix. They should have included a Gunplay Mode for post-game, where it's just a long string of survival stages with guns.

The server level was INCREDIBLE. Best bit in the entire game. I skulked around the rightside edge, slowly picking the bastards off. Glass shattering everywhere. So awesome, so totally awesome.

              ^^^ totally agree.
I know this is a bit of a marmite game but I loved pretty much everything about the main game.

It took about three hours to get a decent run, but I'm top of my friends leaderboard on the Arland time trial! So if you're on my friends list, yeah, BEAT YOU.

These time trials are a PROPER stress, but in an ace way (mostly).

                    I hate that level

If I were to beat you though, it risks ruining your life as you'd then have to beat me back

That's an interesting cop-out. I didn't spend much time on Arland - didn't really like the back and forth nature of the checkpoints. There's no way I'll ever get my skills back up to beat you on that now

I can't remember which levels I liked / did not like now... but I remember I did have the 1000/1000 before the bloody DLC came out.

I'll beat you, don't worry, just not for a while

You're only four seconds ahead of my time at the moment, so I haven't got that much to find! Need to work out how you did that double jump on the pipe because I'm losing loads of time there, and how you get over the fence at the start so quick

I did it by being better than you.
