When the co-op works its wicked, but you need to have your **** together even more than in L4D as its easy to run off and forget that if one dies you both die. Maybe the map will become more effective after some more playing throughs. Does the partner target thing show up through walls?

Hated the menu screen, no doubt I'm doing it wrong but is the game really asking you to select ammo and combine it with a gun and then select the gun while you are being slashed, grabbed and chainsawed? There has to be a way of mapping this stuff to the dpad right?

Was fighting the controls a fair bit, but that will no doubt come in time. Left bumper and right trigger just to use the knife seems too awkward at the moment.

The window for X moves seemed incredible tight too and pretty random.

This being 100% co-op may stop me from picking it up on launch, but I'll give the demo some more plays before ruling it out.

The 'black' thing did actually bother me a little if I'm honest which took me by surprise as I'd laughed along with everybody else at the time. When attacked by a crazed black man swinging a shovel I instantly regreted saying "**** man, I just got hit by a spade". I told this to my girlfriend afterwards and she said, "but you play as an black character too right?"...well kind of...

As a demo its done its job, but I'll really need to play the final game with the story and full set of characters to make up my mind ,it is after all just a small demo (even in meg size) of what should be a big game
At the moment its more RE4 with some of the best levels of next gen Gfx I've seen, but I always felt RE4 was a bit overrated, and just didn't have the story or cast of characters to that of Code Veronica.
I'm hoping RE 5 will have a great story to back it up .

For me though Capcom have been the best Japanese development this gen and was one of the best last gen, and one of the few to wake up to multi platform development and making games for the world wide market . I never really liked DMC IV, but Lost Planet is one of the best games I ever played , and if not for the silly save system, DR was a riot .

I just like to know what the DR and LP Teams are working on, as its been a while since those Teams showed anything new

I'm sorry, but after Dead Space this plays like wank.

        It either...

        A) Needs Wii controls

        or

        B) Needs to get it's **** sorted.

I changed to the RE4 controls and lost the all new strafe ability, I don't know how essential this is anyway but the controls were hardly saved.

Perhaps I need to remaster RE4 on the Cube, but I doubt doing this is going to sort out the ****ty menu system.

FFS, Isaac Clarke is a clumsy engineer not trained for combat... Chris Redfield on the other hand? You'd think he'd be like controlling Dante by now.

Nice one Fallows, you just posted exactly what I was going to say.

This feels CRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAP to control! Based on the demo I won't be buying this.

I don't like the new emphisis on co-op. I prefer to play a game like resident evil myself, and it's almost like it's forcing co-op on me (surely thats the only reason the AI is so bad).

Looks stunning! Controls like something from 2000!

And the amount of tearing going on is diabolical (through VGA) . I really hope they sort that out before it's released.

                what I've posted elsewhere:

Also, as good as the graphics are, the screen-tearing on the 360 version began to make me feel sick and I had to stop playing. Maybe that's the game running from the HD or the lack of power compared to the PS3 version. I don't know.

I'll be picking up the PS3 version, and I'm buying a PS3 for this game to play on the classic Resi pad. If the control is still ****, and the screen still tears, I'm going to be mega pissed off and looking for refunds.

                ---

Second thoughts: THIS REQUIRES WII CONTROLS 110%!!!! Running with left stick, selecting weapons with right d-pad... my left thumb can't do both at once I'm afraid.

                ---

Why do they even need the default walk action??????? To make things more atmospheric? After Dead Space this game doesn't have any atmosphere... sunny down-town Africa compared to infected ship of screaming psychotic paranoia death?? Try again Capcom.

Get rid of 'walk' and you remove the need for the redundant run button. Did anyone ever walk around in Final Fantasy VII?

When you say forcing it on you, is it done in the way like Resident Evil 0? I aint played the downloadable demo, and don't think i will bother at this rate.......... Lot of negativity comin on here from resi fans here........... if i can't trust the fan base who do i trust?

Do you thik the dissolving enemies is jus a demo thing?

Never played Resi Evil 0, but in the demo at least you have a computer controlled woman following you aorund, supposedly helping, but she is a pain in the behind. It looks like you can't just play it by yourself without the computer messing up your enjoyment.

It's obvious that this has been made with co-op in mind rather than the nowadays neglected solo gamer, and in my opinion it's very much the poorer for it.

I've not played the demo since before Christmas when I got access to it all norty-like, but a lot of the negative comments here echo my own thoughts precisely.

The tearing was atrocious and I'm not usually the sort to notice this but it was it was so prevalent on this.

I was never one of those who thought RE4 was the second coming in disc form. I can appreciate that a lot of people liked it but as a Resident Evil/Biohazard game I thought it was a poor direction for the series to go in (it's the first canon Resident Evil game that I've started and not finished). The fact that RE5 is more of the same with a horribly tacked on co-operative mode does not leave me excited about the final game and the demo did nothing to appease those fears.

                        3) Hordes of zombies in cut scenes, a handful at a time in gameplay. I'm sorry but these days if you're going to give me the impression I'm about to be mobbed by a horde of zombies then I want to actually be mobbed by a horde of zombies. Not a handful at a time Kung-Fu movie style.

                        .
re. point 1. me and my mate were discussing this the other day whilst playing Left 4 Dead. all the bodies stay. if Valve can do it (with many more zombies) why cant capcom?

i was disappointed with the initial house seige. after the amazing farm house set piece in resi 4, this is weak. where were the hordes of swarming zombies rushing in?

overall, i quite liked the demo, but did feel it was really 'clunky' somehow. Also, there was no 'quick switch' between weapons, really annoying.
Who'd have thought Dead Space would have been better eh?

Don't make me think that. It makes me feel dirty somehow

Though, it could be used as further evidence to the theory that the Japanese devs haven't really clocked the so called "next gen" yet and the Western teams have come along and surpassed them.

I am with Mr Fallows on this one that it needs Wii controls. I hope they don't try and cram some dodgy port on the machine though. After seeing what is happening with Dead Rising that would seem like a bad idea to me. Wait for it to be announced though!

I'm still going to buy it though. I mean, come on, it's resident Evil!!!!!

I didn't enjoy the demo very much, especially after playing Dead Space.

Yes, I know they are different games but some of the game mechanics in the RE5 demo - especially in this day and age - is fairly shocking and is 'stuck in the past' gameplay wise.

The disappearing bodies profusely irritates me; I understand the reasoning for using it in RE4 (technical limitations) but why are Capcom doing it in RE5?

I ALSO dislike how you see hordes of 'zombies' in the cut-scenes but during the actual gameplay, you get a handful of 'zombies' coming towards you; it makes the scenario feel false.

I enjoyed RE4 very much but judging by the demo, I'm just not at all excited any more to be honest.

:EDIT: Heh, it seems that Ish shares the same views as me...

Run button. FFS what is the point?? Semi-analogue to walk, full analogue to run? What would have been wrong with that?

Run buttons are living in the past, much like 90% of this demo.

No, I need a run button that interferes with my pick-up button... Oh yeah, I now have two pickup buttons, one for my dickless sidekick.... awesome.

sounds like im being morbid, but when the chainsaw guy gets you, it doesnt show you his head getting sawed off, as in 4. whys that?!

i did like how you can share / swap weapons with Sheva though
