The championship mode is glitchy on PS3. I upped my rank to the G2-E championship and won one of the 4 match tournaments. It wasnt easy.

Got 2100 GP before shutting my system down. Today I boot it up again and I get the "last tournament did not finish properly" message, and my GP was down to 500, back to the G3-B rank. Oh well.

It's a reasonable addition, but hardly worth the wait or the hype they've been putting about to promote it. Still, twas free.

It just worries me that the priority was to make and put out this mode, as opposed to making "other" things.

I feel this is more of a case that it's still trying to work out a best possible opponent. Since everyone started anew shall we say, it's still gotta work out who's a good matchup for who. Once the dust settles and everyone has played a good amount of games, hopefully we should see even-ish matches.

Like on friday, i've only played a few matches.
I couldn't win for love or money.
About 4 of those matches, i [/i]should've[/i] been able to handle, but was making way too many silly mistakes. One match though, i got absolutely creamed by this really good C. Viper player, so hats off to him.

Just to add to what I was saying earlier.

I think anyone who is on sky broadband should give them a ring and get the interleaving (max delays) sorted.

Sky broadband is one of the largest isp's in the uk so alot of xbox/ps3 players will be on sky and not really know what there pings are.

Coming from a pc gaming back ground there is a HUGE difference between 80 ping and 30.
I can play on some US servers and get 80-90 ping but on UK ones get as low as 12.

So if sky is by default 80-90 then thats not good for everyone with match making etc.

There Seems to be a lot of decent to ?ber legend players on Championship. Hell, I got convincingly owned by a Dan player no problem. He was doing mad cross-up kicks to my Gief. I felt helpless and all noob. It's been frustrating at times, but refreshing too.

i went through to sky this morning on the phone and got on to bband tech and they put me through to someone who knew their stuff and new my line is running quicker and the max delay is down to 16, with the line staying stable.

just want to nod some thanks to hype2k, for the help and advise about speaking to sky.

This happened to a friend of mine yesterday, and when my buddy messaged the guy saying how it was wonderful to see such a potent Dan he got a reply saying "Yes, the path to Saikyo is truly hard indeed"

It was a beautiful moment in our lives.

But, yeah, the quality of the players on the lower tiers of the CE patch is immense. I'm trying to enjoy it whilst I can, before they all rocket up the tiers and I'm left languishing in the G3 bracket with all the other weaklings

I was double perfected by another Sakura player last night. A most humbling experience.

Still, made up for it be utterly destroying an Akuma player just afterwards who really hadn't mastered the art of telegraphing the fact he was trying to get his super and ultra out. So amusing when they finally do it and it's straight into the fireball I've got ready...

There's not many things more enjoyable in this game than jumping over an Akuma doing his Ultra/Super then laughing out loud to yourself when you SAVAGE them from behind.

I have to say, if it isn't Ryu online now if a shoto is picked, it's Akuma; Ken seems to have pretty much disappeared in Championship mode. One guy thought he'd got the Raging Demon timed perfectly to connect with me last night but I managed to push out an EX Tiger Uppercut to rip him a new one just in time. To be fair, that guy was probably the best Akuma player I'd faced, he knew what he was doing and doing it well. Just a pity (for him) that he takes so much damage...

And if it isn't those two, then it's a smattering of Blanka, Sagat and (a little surprisingly) Cammy. Everyone else has hardly got a look in for the games I've played so far. The odd Honda, Vega, Abel... I've even had a couple of Seths, a Gen and a Rufus.

What's the highest GP rating you've faced so far and how did you fair? I've played a couple of people over 2000 and I narrowly lost to one (playing as Ryu) and devastated the other (playing as Balrog). I also ripped a new one on an almost 2000 player who was Vega. Looks like you won't get the really massive CP gains until you hit grade two because of the accumulation system in place.

From what I've observed, if you beat an opponent, you gain CP equivalent to their GP plus their accumulated CP so far in the tournament. Once you get to grade two obviously, then the minimum you'll win in the first round will be 2000 or so (as getting G2-E I think is 2048GP). And 4000 for round two, 8000 for round three... so if you win the final, you're looking at about 32,000 minimum overall.

I get absolutely destroyed by Cammy players online. I just havn't found a way to deal with her.

Gief is my main and I find it best to turtle against Cammy. Lariat beats her jump attacks (canon spike, hooligan combo), block canon drills into SPD or jab combo and if she ultras either block and EX hand, or if there's time jump it dash in and ultra back.

My common problem with Cammy is that her cannon spike ends up with her too far away on the screen to punish as Ryu, so they can just blast away and, at worst, get free chip damage.

It's the ones that can link cannon drill into cannon spike that cause me the biggest headaches

So it sounds like the competition in champ mode is fierce?
