I think this is the key to these. Just to practice in bits then try to put it all together, rather than attempting to learn the whole thing in one go.

Of course, having been trying to do that combo for about an hour, I did it the second go after I posted asking for help . No idea how I'd ever make use of some of these in a real fight, though.

Any special move performed as a reversal (performed the instant your character is able to move freely) breaks armour. Otherwise, it's hurricane kick (and EX version) for Ryu and Ken (though Ken's ultra has armour break too, I think), if you're playing as one of those two. Throws and any move that hits more than once will also beat FAs (due to FAs only absorbing one hit)

I've been doing Abel's challenge mode, to gear myself up for unlocking Fei Long, and I actually kinda like how Abel plays. I was never really a grappler player myself, but it helps that Abel seems only to be a semi-grappler. His falling star can grab hurricane kicks, I've heard XD

        2) Unlock Akuma. To do this complete the game without losing a round. Incorporate one perfect victory and just two Ultra Combo finishers. NO MORE THAN TWO! If you win three matches with ultra combos you will face Gouken after Seth, and you can't unlock him before Akuma, as I found out about 12 times - You will face Gouken and after beating him you will get your ending and credits, nothing else. Once you beat Akuma he's yours.

        3) Complete the game with Akuma.

        4) Unlock Gouken. To do this complete the game without losing a round. Incorporate one perfect victory and three Ultra Combo finishers.

Steps 3 + 4 CANNOT BE LINKED INTO ONE!! I completed the game with Akuma 1st time selecting him with one perfect and three ultras without losing a round and guess what I got? HIS ENDING THEN THE CREDITS!! You must first register his ending on the movie screen before you can go for the no-loss, 1 perfect, 3 ultra streak.
        Cheers mate

Your method worked perfectly. Just Seth left to unlock now

I am finding the 360 d pad perfectly fine for this (green pad) although I did succomb to the pads on ebay so should be receiving my Ryu pad on Monday

I faced Akuma twice with different methods of getting to him, first time was 1 perfect and no defeats and the second time was just no defeats

Man the difference between Ranked matches and Player matches is insane. As soon as it's ranked, people turn into the most cretinous heathens! I know it's anything to win but bloody hell it makes for some of the most boring matches ever!

I've literally had Ken/Ryu players constantly jumping back in the corner. Without a projectile this is this annoying to break down and makes for a dull as f*ck fight.

I can see myself sacking off Ranked fairly soon.

I've never been as bad at any game than I am at this franchise, I'm just really struggling to get into it at the moment. I can happily play Virtua Fighter games, even on the harder levels without any problems but I'm struggling to make sense of this.

Can't say I'm overly impressed. It's good, but it h'ain't fantastic. Online is boring as ****. 1-up sucks as soon as soon as you get to Seth. Local 2-up seems like the way forward to me.

I've slung the focus stuff out the window too. I play it exactly as if it's SF2, but with dashes and supers. All these online players are trying to get too technical I reckon. I've only lost one game and that was due to major-league lag. Baffling n00bs with my old-skool stylees.

Is it just me or is the priority for throws ridiculously high on this? Really struggling against grapplers like Abel and Zangief because of it.

It's especially frustrating on wake up when they stand over me and unless I time a reversal perfectly I got thrown again.

I can mash my way through most Tekkens and VF are meega hard too Have you tried Training mode? Each fighter doesn't have a shed load of moves to learn, but you can link various moves together etc. The training mode is a good place to experiment if you've got the time, patience and will.

Street Fighter is like beat em up chess. It gets tactical out there, but you don't have to be a massive combo machine to win. You can punish people for jumping in expecting to get a three hit combo on you etc.

The best way to start appreciating SF, like most beatemups, is learn the moves (which luckily this doesn't have a lot to learn compared to most 3D fighters) and then play some 1 Vs 1 with a friend.

Lol, I had this yesterday. Abel infinitely throwing me as soon as I got up from the previous one...

Dash back on wake up. My Gief can't get his hands on you if you do that

Been playing this a load yesterday, not much online yet tho. Had a few games though and put some guys score back down to zero which was enjoyable.

Can I just ask a question about combos. Am I right in saying you should be inputting the commands as quick as possible while the animation of the move before is still taking place.

Seth is pretty easy on normal difficulty with the shoto characters if u just jump and heavy kick him and then sweep. Same tactic I always used for Gill. Cheap and effective. They deserve it!

Zangief seems a little easier to control in this one than sf2 aswell. I seem to be able to do his pile drivers most times whereas in sf2 I always just jump about. (using vshg btw)

Hoepfully get on this tonight for a few battles with some of you guys.

I can win in this, that's not what I'm looking for though. I've can unfortunately win using just one attack most of the time!!

It's the same in Virtua Fighter, winning or loosing doesn't really come into it. In that it's just instinctive because I know what will happen before I do it and I can react to what the other character is doing and end up with a fantastic flowing fight.

It's just not working for me at the moment but hopefully it'll click if I stick with it because as you said, there really aren't many moves and most of them just aren't difficult to do anyway.

Gouken defeated on hardest setting. I nearly failed vs. Seth but finished him with the last hit of an ultra just to take the piss.
