Too late, already got rid of it

Seriously though, the amount of time I have heard people say (not necessarily on here) "anyone using Ken is n00b!" or "Ken players just spam the same moves" is quite ridiculous. Like you said we all have to start somewhere but it just isn't fun when you hear people putting a beginner down just because they don't know the in's and out's of the game yet.

I think the experienced players just get frustrated and annoyed (maybe a little embaressed) when they get beaten by a beginner so they have to resort to called the other player a "noob"

Agree that the guy posting the vid is an idiot. "Spamming" a move is not a usually a good tactic, so either just punish it or admit that it's good enough to beat you and go off and practice. If your opponent is "rubbish" compared to you then you should beat them comfortably...

To be honest Hoolsey me old mucka, I've seen an awful lot of SFIV anti-Ken snobbery all over the net and this thread is no exception. Every time I see this thread has had a new post it, it's usually about Ken players online!

I ask you, that tosser posting the vid on youtube, would his comments have been the same if it were against a Gief player who was spamming greens, lariats and throws? I doubt it, I also doubt that kind of video would even get posted by the aforementioned tosser.

Ken has limited special moves, if people haven't realised by now that when you down a ken, he's gonna get up with a strong dragon punch...well...I have to question those people's opinions of their own skills. If a Ken is downed and you start trying a full focus attack he will strong dragon punch you because it will break that attack! That's not spamming either, it's smart gameplay and an attempt at regaining control of the match.

Nah. I remember when SFII was only out in the arcades. I used to go there and get absolutely bummed in the eyes and ears. The older guys who hogged the machine would see me coming, smell blood and pummel me back to the Snow Bros machine. It was friggin tough. Once I got absolutely thrown to death by who I thought was the crappiest and easiest character to fight due to his sluggishness. Zangief. That scarred me lol.

When that SFC version came out, I was all over that Gief. I wanted to play like that dude who torn me a new bum. 18 years later, I'm not quite there. But by jove, I'll keep trying lol.

EDIT: Completely forgot my point here...

Think it was something to do with Ezee getting rid of his SFIV.

I heard a lot of people laying into those who play as Ken. Which I started with as well. All the ranting about the character eventually made me go with Ryu, as he was the nearest that I could tell to Ken and would avoid people getting angry.

I gave in and switched characters, but I have to say i'm fine with it now as I prefer Ryu's moves compared with Ken's.

Glad you edited, I was worried this was a coming out post especially with all that talk of being bummed in the eyes and ears!

Ironically, Dazzyman (a good friend and someone I play regularly) is doing the absolute opposite. I can see the arguement for Ryu but it's all about playstyle. I find Ryu a more calculated character, you pick your moment and you make them suffer. I also find Ryu more punch based (combo wise) at times, where I prefer Ken's combos as he has nice kick ones.

I'm mainly a Gief player. I fully understand that spamming out certain moves is needed in a lot of cases with your Ken/Ryu/Akmuas etc. You have to keep his hair arms away somehow. I think they call it zoning. It's hard work chasing a fireballing Akuma who then teleports to the other side of the screen, but I relish the challenge.

The only thing that annoys me about Ken is his look. That hair.

If you can't take down all the Ken players in SF4, it's you who needs to up your game, don't worry about anyone else.

When I see someone picking Ken, I think "ahhh, another easy win!" I love baiting them into wiffying a HP dragon punch so I can punish it with my best combos.

I love fighting a really good Ken player too, it really makes me up my own game and find other ways to win against the ubiquitous shotos.

I thought the whole thing was about how the ken guy was setting it to 30secs to get easy wins/points, with one of the best characters in the game no?

I've tried to use Gief but I can't get on with his lack of speed. I don't mind slow characters (as mentioned early, my no2 is Boxer) but I just can't get on with him.

I like to stand over a downed Ken, making it look like they're in for a free dragon punch-a-roo.

Hoolak...and that makes it interesting for me as a Ken player also. Once I realise you aren't an easy target and will block a recovery dragon punch, I have to up my game!

Personally I don't often dragon punch a Gief unless they are jumping, because if you miss it and they are close, his throws will take a HUGE amount of health off you real quick.

The game is awesome, it has generated so much tactic talk, so much bitching and so much bumming. I look forward to the Champ patch so I don't have to manually set up tournies

If they patched in a PROPER lobby system, where multiple friends can take turns and watch each others matches it'd be game of the decade, maybe even game of forever.

Every time I play online I feel this tinge of disappointment that they failed us in that department.

Any patch they put out before they fix that, they can pop it right back up their rear ends and I'll send my Ken round to savage them. He's a rear-end-mess-maker and no mistakin'...
