somehow I always seem the lose the "aerial battles" , when both are jumping towards each other, they ALWAYS hit me, is there some tactic or rule about which one will take the hit ? ... I tried with light, medium and hard kick and it doesn't make a difference, I always get kicked in the nuts..

played quite a few matches online yesterday and hardly anyone used Ken, it was great to see people are using almost all characters !
Online I still lose more then I win, but I love it more and more and I notice I'm starting to learn bit by bit better the way this is meant to be played.

It varies with the character, move and timing. I know as Zangief that if I jump in against Ken/Ryu they'll take priority if we trade early - but if the jump is late I can usually get them with a fierce punch or splash. As you said you're learning all the time, so eventually you'll know when to do it and when not to bother.

yeah probably it will, it's was when both are jumping at the same time towards each other I was the one getting his ass kicked all the time, I was just wondering about this.

        I will improve !

I end up fighting Ken so much that when it actually comes to fighting someone like Dhalsim I don't have a scooby doo what to do.

Doesn't help that I'm utter crap at this either.

Also really want a stick but that's out the window for a while due to the profiteering eBay twats.

This is slowly growing on me. I'd love to learn El Fuerte but, man, he just seems to get his ass kicked. Makes me pine for R.Mika. Anyone know, if I put in the time, is he good once learned?

Sucks that the worst background in the whole game is the one I spend the most time looking at - Seth's sub-Dreamcast Space Channel 5 stage. What is that guy on the top left doing? Weird how there is such a gulf in the background quality - Overpass versus that flat volcano one. Airfield versus Seth's space disco. Like totally different games.

But, yeah, this is a grower. I really like the voices. Much better than any previous SF game. So... El Fuerte... worth learning?

Well, in SFIV I find you have plenty of time to charge while you're jumping in on that earlier combo you mentioned i.e. jump and immediately charge the entire time until you need to cancel the c.mp.

El Fuerte can be quite fast. If you want to learn El Fuerte then you need to command-dash the **** around everywhere. He's got a nice mix-up game too. His major weakness is that he has to work quite hard to be effective because he doesn't generally do as much damage. Can be fun though, I imagine.

I seem to trade blows a lot online. I'm talking SRK's for punishing jumpers here. I think its due to not being the host as I always joined games. Offline, my timing is spot on.

                  Its that few milisecs difference.

OMG!! Really!? I just spent the last hour trying to do his last trial...Any tips?

I'm talking for the first part. I can go kick, kick, punch and I can do punch, super but I can't do kick, kick, punch, super

I know there's a technique to it but I can't figure out what it is.

Why can't I stop playing this online? If I lose I always want to play just one more game so that I can end on a win... and when I win I always want to continue! Intended to just play this for twenty minutes or so last night before KZ and by the time I dragged myself away from it two hours had passed!

I have my BP up to 1800 at the moment, been working my way up slowly with Balrog. I'm shocked at how many Ken/Sagat/Akuma characters I beat comfortably last night that had ~3000BP. Also got my ten wins trophy.

After getting beat you'll think of strategies you should of tried against your last opponent, but then they're gone (in Ranked). I now favour playing Player Matches. Find a decent player and sit with them for a while. Great fun.

That's the main problem I have at the moment. I can beat shotos with him almost blindfold now, but each time I come up against a different opponent I often know that I could have done better, but it might be several days before I come up against them again.

I'm going to continue with ranked until I get the trophies I think then move over to player matches. I should probably give some other characters a try as well, I've been sticking with Balrog pretty much exclusively for the last week or so.

I think the general consensus is that an El Fuerte player really has his work cut out to remain competitive against players of a comparable skill level.

You'll need to play a near perfect game constantly as any punishment opportunity that an opponent exploits will likely wipe out a good portion of any advantage you may have developed in the round.

He has an "infinite" combo apparently involving his dash special that requires very precise timing but is considered something that any El Fuerte player needs to master if they are to considered competitive.

Hmm... probably not worth the heartache then. He does seem to consistently get his ass kicked when I play as him. I seem to do far better with fat ol' Rufus, who is actually rather fun to play as. I can't figure out C.Viper at all - she seems deadly in the right hands, just not my hands.
