I think it's a really fantastic compilation. Sure you could moan about the sonic knuckles issue and that many of these games have been available on past systems but I still think it's incredible value for money.

Christ I would have paid ?20 just for shinobi, the fact it has 47 other games on it just sweetens the deal for me.

I'v had a brief play on this and I feel the same. Shinobi is amazing and as good as I remember it. Been playing the first Streets of Rage as well with some friends. Brilliant fun.

The way of unlocking the achievement on Columns doesn't seem to work on UK versions of the game. I tried it... Only seems to be people with the USA version who are having success.

tbh I just played from level 0 on easy and kept pausing it to plan my move. Managed it second go.

I had alot of fun getting all the achievements on this, most of them are quite easy, the only ones which gave me some problems were Fatal Labrynth as the first map didnt seem to have any stairs, maybe it was a bug. The other game was Mean Bean Machine, Dr Robotniks stage is just so fast, I found after I managed to do a few decent combos I saved it, took awhile but eventually got it done.

On the whole the collection could have been better but for ?25 its still a solid compilation and well worth the money.

it says on the achievement you have to play on easy mode to unlock it. I got it on my second attempt and I have the UK release.

Compilations like this could always be better, mainly because there's always going to be something we loved playing that didn't make the list. I personally would have loved to have seen Strider, Castle of Illusion, Mercs and other games Sega made and published, but could you imagine how expensive it would be to licence them now...

I'm having an absolute blast on this but the achievements stink. When you can only have one achievement per game they really should have made them more challenging, at least requiring completion of each game. And then to blow a 50pointer on watching all the videos, and another for viewing all the artwork, it's a real missed opportunity. There seems to be real inconsistency in the game borders as well which is disappointing. And a general lack of polish with little in the way of background material on each game. It would have been nice to have had advert pictures, concept art, little snippets from the developers. Would have been nice to have updated the Genesis carts with Mega Drive ones too.

Still doesn't stop the games from being absolute class though.

thing is with the dvd format they could fit probably a few hundred games on a disc

and lets be fair how many Times people Going to keep buying the same games

on live/wii downloads and previous collections

I refuse to do the MBM achievement on principal.

Sorry, I meant with regards to the way people were going in and setting it to Level 5, and unlocking the achievement that way. Seems to work on the USA version but not on the UK. But yes, you can just start from scratch on easy, obviously

That's a nuts thing to say. You can fit Fallout 3 something like 5 times over on a blu-ray disk so is that a poor show as well?

Piracy spoils people. This is the first time that Streets of Rage and Shining Force have been available in the UK on one compilation and people are moaning about it. God knows how much this would cost if they were all bought off the virtual console...

Sega should have supplied the game with a free moon on the stick...

^I'm not convinced I agree. We could look at it from a variety of angles. For example, if we view it from the angle of how much it would have cost them to make a Megadrive emulator and stick a bunch of roms on a disc, you could argue we're being fleeced (especially given I doubt the original developers of every game on the disc are actually getting paid for this).

It's cheaper than buying Streets of Rage 3 by itself so I feel is really rather good value. It's also cheaper than buying the titles individually on XBLA.

The only area I feel shortchanged is in the lack of historical material. This release should have been a shrine. Instead there's very little in the way of extras.

Really enjoying this. Been eyeing up most of these on the VC at one time or another but never got round to purchasing. Saved myself a packet as a result. Agree with averybluemoneky about the lack of historical content...it really is bare bones.

                                That's a fair point.

On the bottom line though we're ultimately talking about 49 games costing roughly around 65 pence a game. Surely that's fantastically good value for money regardless of how many times they've been available in the past?

Anyone else who thinks otherwise is probably just used to downloading these games for free.
