Personally I'm glad that things not around, it freaks me out.

I spent my whole first play of the game ****ting myself about falling into the water. It was only on my second go that I realised none of it was really above head height

Yep its the 7 Hour War (proving how effective The Combine were that they could get earth to surrender in such a short time). If you press the use key on the paper clippings on the board Eli does give you a bit more info ( same with the thing in the jar and the picture of his wife and Alyx )

Chad - you have a point about the suit. I didn't even realise you weren't supposed to be wearing it up until that point. Same applies to the crowbar. Barney says you dropped it in Black Mesa but you bloody didn't - as far as I remember its with you up to the end

The thing about the HEV suit, if Barney or Kleiner or whoever says "It still fits like a glove" (as I'm sure somone does), that implies that it's the same on Gordon wore in HL1 - if that's the case, where did they get it from? Freeman never took it off.

That's the problem with these hidden explanations, you have to be a little too pedantic sometimes.

IIRC at the end of HL1 you hand over your crowbar and hev suit to the G-man. This would also give credence to the theory that the G-man and the resistance teamed up/formed an alliance. Since someone must have had contact with the G-man before Gordon came into city 17, otherwise how else would they have got Gordon's stuff and known he was coming into city 17?

      @ Tom Salter:
I believe in the beginning when the teleport malfunctions in Kleiner's lab there's a point where you teleport into some water and that Icthyosaur(I think that's what it's called) charges at you and then you're teleported away somewhere else. So maybe you could just try no-clipping through that level and you'd find it. I know it's not the same as coming face to face with one in the game but it is a start.

Fire up Half Life:Source and you can start a new game right at the end sequence with G-Man.

Wow, I found a *great* secret!!!

Right at the end of Water Hazard, there's a pipe in the side of the cliff that appears to have a grate on the front. However you can go inside. Go inside, theres a vortigaunt that tells you all the secrets! He even hints at loads of other things...such as the fact that:

Gordon has a split personality. The vortigaunts love, and hate Gordon. They call him "sib". They have endured worse things in their lifetimes before this.

And lots more! I suggest you track him down ASAP!

Yeah someone posted all of the lines he says on the hl2.net forums. Certainly makes for some interesting reading.

Is that the one thats toasting the headcrabs on the fire ? Mmmmmmm, crunchy !

All the Vortigants say some interesting things - especially how they are greatful to Gordon, but cannot forgive him for killing their bretherin as forgiveness is not theirs to give (?!)

And how they still see him in Black Mesa fighting the Nialinth ?!

You'd need to look at the Steam figures for the game though.

I know - Still doesn't make for great reading though.

I'd thought it'd only be the hardcore fans, or people who are mostly Half-Life fans, that'd be using Steam at first in terms of purchase.

Personally I think Half-Life 2 will be a slow burner, i.e. it's lifespan will be far greater than a San Andreas or Need For Speed Underground 2.

This character model was found by someone on that `other` forum

Beware its a spolier pic for those who haven't finished the game

These are the guys on the video monitors from Nova Prospekt. Does that mean that people weren't being turned into Prowlers / Stalkers but adjusted to become Civil Protection ? Is this what The Overwatch look like under their masks ?

From the hole in its neck it seems that the respirators on their masks were required to breath, again joining up with what Breen says about his final transport destination being unacceptable for him. The Overwatch army seems to be designed to work in any environment regardless of atmosphere

lol. Has anyone seen the latest news, that Valve has banned some 20,000 Steam accounts for fraudulent activities?! A lot of people are protesting their innocence but according to a post on the Steam forums, the proof is there so far for all of them!

Great screenshot attached although its obviously from earlier in the year....
