    Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oo!

I booked a holiday to NY last week.... from the 11th to the 18th November?!

What are the chances of that....

What the hell are you doing here, Konzept!? Anyone that threatens to leave and then doesn't is asking for a banning

Anyway, I've upgraded now and should be able to play HL2 without fear of a single figure framerate. Just wish it'd hurry the hell up and come out.

You needed help to fix the damn thing, due to your lacking in the pc repair department... dumbass.

Quiet you. Hardware isn't my forte when exhausted, starved, and dosed up on Lemsip. My windoze installs are better anyway

You want to know the irony? I've got that week booked off (for other reasons), but the whole 'requires Steam access even for singleplayer' puts me off so much I'm not buying the game.

              What's all that about then?

I dreamt I played it last night and it was awesome. I have really dull dreams.

Guess I'll have to blow off a few lectures that week. But the steam access for single play worries me a bit.

That's what seems to be implied by the previous few posters, anyway. I've never managed to get Steam to play nice with my home firewall, and frankly I've little intention of helping it do so, either, so if I need to install that crap to play through the single player game (I'm quite prepared to do without multiplayer), then I'll just by another console game instead.

Well they can simply gtf. The PC I'm installing HL2 on won't have internet connection, and cos of that I'm unlikely to be able to play it??

EDIT: To then play the game when you are not connected to the internet, when you run steam, steam will then take some time to look for the internet, and then if it doesn't find anything, will make itself available offline. This must be done before you head off to a LAN party that doesn't have an internet connection.

Sort of defeats the point if you ask me.

Someone will hack the Steam requirement out of the game. You know it....

I thought the only time you needed to use Steam was the first time you installed it to validate that copy. I thought after that you wouldn't really need to connect to the internet to run it again ?

If not, it sounds almost like any other game out now that just tries to connect to a server if it detects an open internet connection. And you could probably block it with a firewall - which is what I do with most games at the moment.

Guess we won't know fully until the game is released or Valve give us more details.

Also I wonder if we'll be seeing any benchmarks before the games release ?

**** it. Due to a major crisis arising in my financial affairs I'm not going to be able to afford this (or much else) till after christmas.

<insert infiinite number of curses here>

I had to make a choice. This or Halo 2. And I chose Halo 2.

I don't believe it. Sob. I really am quite upset by that

Personally if it was me I would have gone the other way around. HL2 is cheaper after all
