On a more practical note, what about this thread?

When Half-Life 2 is released are we going to start afresh and delete this one, or change the title and discuss the game in here? It'd be a shame to waste a 70 page topic considering the information, discussion, links in here, but I do understand it'd probably be hard to navigate for those playing the game.

Just mod the heading. You can put the page number that the game discussion (post release starts in the title) for people who want to learn about the game after release and it will also allow people to browse the rest of the thread for more information in the build up to release. It'll save a whole load of linking later.

That would be kinda ironic: if the longest thread on a site that doesn't cover PC games is a (places little finger near mouth in a dr. evil style) thread about a PC game.

It's painfully amusing though... The closer we get the longer the wait, the minor delays, the lack of information grates.

I hope we get some sort of official confirmation when Half-Life 2 is going to be released in September, if the game doesn't hit that month.

A specific release date would be best. Not a Steam date, Pre-load, demo release or Gold confirmation. Simply: "the game will be released in stores on X date. You'll get the rest when you're given it, now STFU FFS, tbfh!"

Halo 2's it's ready when it's ready would have been best in teh first place though.

A post on the HL2.net forums said Valve were aiming for today, but as yet there's been nothing.

I've gone a bit Half-Life 2 mad over the last couple of days in anticipation of the game's release. There's around 40 videos floating around the net, when you include all the interviews, development insights, binks, and the E3 presentation/flanger videos.

I've downloaded all of them I think.
