Nope, it's far more refined in this.

I spent some more time on this last night replaying the rally stage and I'm feeling more nauances in the car and the enviroment diffrences inbetween.

In other words, a fantastic improvment over Colin McRae Dirt.

Did the last DIRT outsell the older CMR games? The first few sold better even though they were mostly geared towards our market. DIRT did still kind of tank in the USA.

Although I do remember that since number 3, CMR was kind of surpassed by the likes of Evolution Studios and DICE.

Like every Codemasters racing games I've played, I found the most important aspect, the handling, disappointing. It's way too exagerated and you can practically turn on a sixpence whenever you choose which is rubbish and very unrealistic. It's a pity as the rest of the game seemed quite promising, especially the sense of speed. I'm more concerned with the likelihood of them messing up the forthcoming F1 game in the same way though.

It's not really an issue for me, as I don't see the game as a sim. The handling has it's own logical model, even though it's unrealistic. As long as it's not so wild as to be unplayable, meaning that I can't adapt to the model, then a lack of realism doesn't really matter to me. I thought during the pelt down the hill that the handling and acceleration/deceleration was ludicrous, but I had a lot of fun nevertheless.

It went Platinum on PS3 and Classic on 360. I initially thought that included the US but that doesn't appear to be the case.

I guess that backups up my arguement that it will sell well in PAL territories regardless, but now I am interested to know how well it fared in the US and whether DiRT 2 does any better there.

Thanks to this demo and all I dug up CMR 2.0 again and gave it a spin. I don't remember the framerate being this ass (tis PSX eh), but its still a damn fine game. Gameplay although not really sim either is pretty much perfect, much better than DIRT anyhow. The car does have some weight to it. Even the cockpit view is great.

                No brownie filter either.

Cant wait for this, there's been very few racers over the past 6 months and now there's a few on there way.

Def picking this up along with Need For Speed (fingers crossed it being any good)

Changing the voices and presentation for each region would be good.
There are some people who like the 'American' style of presentation. I'd rather have that than have pretty much the exact same game with different menus and such, which I'm guessing I would have to wait longer for.

Full game has a option to choose Scottish co-driver from what Ive read.

If you have a wheel Id try it on this. I got a bargin on a G25 and wheelstandpro end of last week set it up tonight on PS3 after having a quick bash at it on pad at weekend and its miles better with a wheel goes from skitty and floaty to a semi sim. Has full H gate shift option not that your going to use it on this but also tons of options for dead zones/linearity and different forcefeedback strengths for enviroment and road etc... Its turned it for me into a Grid on rally to a proper rally game going to the wheel like on PC. Cant wait now and seriously had to drag myself off it after an hour to not harm health heh.

Only was testing the wheel to make sure it worked ok then storing it for few weeks till I improve but thought Id post on wheel making it better what with the G25 getting sold off cheap everywhere (new G27 is coming out at stupid RRP of £300 and its only saving grace really is 6 buttons instead of 2) and Shift/GT5 and this all due out this year on PS3 for it

Dazzy, I know that the co-driver option will be for Nicki Grist who's Welsh. Which is at least something to do with Mcrae in this American orientated game.

Played the demo, I liked the rally stage, didn't like the Baha racing event...
The presentation is amazing though, I like how they made the whole menu system, it looks amazing !
Still too early to tell if the game is gonna be any good, I don't care about all these different race classes you can choose from, I always liked that racing against the clock from the older games, totally concentrated on the pace notes to get the fastest time on the stages ! that was really intense... I really miss those games, I would have liked to have an proper WRC rally game (I always loved the old CMR games on the PSX and xbox) instead of this.
Maybe the final game will have a proper rally mode , till that I think I will pass this game

Ta m8. I kew it had a 100% British person in their as Im not a fan of the USA voices either (saying that on Grid when she says Darren when I login gets me everytime ).

Codemasters hands over sales duties for PS3 and PSP versions of latest Colin McRae title

In a surprise move, UK publisher Codemasters had confirmed that Sony is to take over sales and distribution duties for the upcoming Colin McRae: Dirt 2 on both PS3 and PSP.

The deal echoes Sony?s swoop to capture the PlayStation publishing rights to Atari?s Ghostbusters earlier this year ? though unlike that deal, Dirt 2 will not be a timed PlayStation exclusive and will still be released on Xbox 360, Wii and DS alongside PS3 and PSP on September 11th.

?To have Colin McRae: Dirt 2 represented by the platform holder during the new PS3 system?s launch window is testimony to the strength of the game and its commercial relevance,? Codemasters? senior VP of publishing for EPAC Axel Herr stated.

?The Colin McRae series has enjoyed a great affinity with the PlayStation brand in PAL territories for over 10 years and we?re proud to have the support and ambition of SCEE behind it during this key time for both the PS3 and PSP.?

The agreement covers all PAL territories except Spain (Warner Bros), Australia and New Zealand (Namco Bandai).
