Batman: Arkham Asylum [360/PS3/PC]

I recieved this from GAME yesterday and it's brilliant so far. It's certainly not the average brawler game I was worried it would be. The hub-type world is also a great idea for Arkham and the music is indeed awesome whilst you're playing.

What I would like is to visit Gotham City somewhen throughout the game, but I doubt it will happen. And besides, Arkham Asylum's good enough.

I've done something I rarely do on a demo with this, done a complete u-turn. I played it when it came out and really thought it was rubbish, went back again to it last night and actually loved it, something really clicked in the controls and I loved swooping and sneaking round as batty.

Quick trip to Gamestation today and picked it up for trade-ins plus 34p - didn't realise they have a +20% on at the mo so you get extra for all your old tat.

Just got this.

Whats impressing me the most so far is not the graphics or the story or even the gameplay, though all are amazing. Whats most impressive is the fact that right from the off, Arkham Assylum is such an amazing and detailed creation I actualy want to spend hours exploring every nook and crany of it, and belive me, thats not the type of thing I usualy say about many games.

I think I'm going to be playing this for a while.

I can totally understand wanting to save this for the winter nights what with all the moody batman atmosphere, but I was too excited to save it. There will also be a ton of other games out later on in the year that I may not have had the time to play it properly for a while. So I think IO made a good decision with releasing it now before it gets crowded.

the silent predator gameplay is freaking awesome, i love the inverted take downs and my favorite, pulling guys over edges with the grapple

found the AI in the demo pretty dumb. any change for the better?

and is it true that Batman can't do any kills in the game?

Batman.... killing.... you think 5/6 films would have sorted this out for most people that don't know about batman.

AI gets better as you progress but don't expect anything "amazing".

Batman doesn't kill, simple as that. That is why he can't do any kills in the game as it would be going against the whole Batman ethos.

So you CAN pull guys over edges with the grapple!
I was convinced you couldn't after trying to for ages in the main game and failing (the guy just seemed to fall over whenever I pulled him). Thought they'd missed a trick there, good to know they haven't.

you have to use the batclaw not the grapple specifically, i just called it a grapple because essentialy thats what it is, except the claws for clawing stuff , you get it mid game or so

I picked this up after work and have been playing this for the past two hours.

It's Bioshock without the dull sections, has the best hand to hand fighting mechanic I've ever played, looks and sounds beautiful and is the most atmospheric game I've played in years. Oh, and the Joker is the best villan for some time too.

My expectations for this was before the demo was non existent now it's early contender for game of the year from only 2 hours playtime.

I'm the god damn Batman!
