I'm on Episode 3, map 2 from what I recall. I've butchered all of my Prinnies apart from one, and replaced them with some nice new Humanoid characters.

It was a bit sad to get rid of 4 of the poor little buggers, but having a nice cleric with a bow and my rogue/scout gun squad makes up for that, i guess.

The Item World is crazy, though. I decided to have a quick go through it to obtain the 'Key' for Episode 3.

1 1/2 hours of hard work and tactical thought later, I realise it's midnight and I have college in the morning.

NICE. Been a long time since I had this much fun, I tell ya

This is absolutely the wrong place to bring this up, but I really want to play Disgaea - and I can't.

I live in New Zealand and getting a modchip installed seems to be an impossibility - nobody provides the service, and I sure as hell can't do it myself, as I am a technical imbecile.

Does anybody have any tips/suggestions at all? Thanks.

Well, there is the possibility of using the slide card/swap magic disks way, but i have no clue if it's compatible with that method.

Well you could send it internationally to http://www.londonconsole.com/ (who do a great job, email them and find out) - either that or order a US console.

The game really is worth the effort.

I agree, this game is very dangerous to a person's health.

I can relate to playing until the wee hours of the morning. Watching the sun rise is not part of what I call a healthy balance in my gaming / social life. hahah!

I love this game. I've actually spent more time in the Item World than the story mode. When I finally got back to the "story" I was so pumped in stats and levels that I simply swept away the so-called "big bosses". In fact, I had seen stonger opponents in the Item World. Try going back into an item two, or three times. Trust me, the HP level of the enemies gets downright insane - and for TEN floors. I love it.

Item World is a game all unto itself. Puzzles with Geo Symbols, challenges in positioning your groups, limitations by element and distance. Not to mention the after effects of stats building and weapon construction (Moving / combination population).

I love it when I happen upon a "rare" item. I got a rare "11" bronze Sword and I'm not letting it go. But I've only seen one "Legend" item.....but it was a health item....not a weapon. I'm at 44 hours, and only at chapter 6 in the story mode.

I need to get out and see the sun.

Say, what is the slide trick?

I've heardabout it, but I've never seen a diagram or anything.

I heard the 'flip top' approach is easier to do than a mod chip ... does anybody know if that's true?

I've heard that it's just a case of dismanaling the PS2, and putting it back together again with the fliptop instead of the original top half.

                    Later.

Your PS2 mod quest has hijacked the Disgaea thread.
                      Shouldn't that really be in Q n A.

On topic. I seem to spend a copious amount of time in the item world. Right now I'm trying to figure out which characters should I level up so I can unlock the hidden character classes.

I did Prinny Land and I got a legend item. If you have new people and want to level them up with relatively easy enemies. Go in a pack of gum.

Che, yeah, I've been doing all that.....however, I'm starting to wonder if I'm doing anything right. I'm over 70 hours on this thing and only at level 44. I even transmigrated many of the characters to get a higher bonus and level rate.....all to no avail. My only success has been with the Dragon - who is totally rockin' (well.....I admit, I just like a dragon on the battlefield)

I've kicked it in the Item World, got two Legendary weapons, ramped up my Promotion Exams, got Proposals passed, moved populations from items and weapons....I mean I've put in a lot of time on this, working all the tiny details, solving as many Geo Symbol puzzles as possible, and STILL.....I hear about other gamers who run about with level 100+ characters dealing out thousands in damage HP.

Is there a secret I'm not aware of? Hmmm.....perhaps I just suck at this? - Hahahah!

Anyway, I'm getting back to it......2 AM, but that's prime time for me and my so-called work hours.

                        Ja ne.

Some levels require a lot of HPs - there's one level in Episode 11 that's a real sod to complete. The whole map is geo'd and has a enemy boost x 6 on it. Try getting to the geo symbols let alone destroying before the level 40 characters turn you to mash.

There are certain maps that give you a better chance of levelling - the higher the character you destroy, the more exp you'll get. Also, the character with the kill hit is the one that gets the exp. Remember that enemies can be combined if you throw them at each other, so you can get higher level characters on a low level map by doing this.

                          Regards

My highest character is level 20. I just level up as much as I can. I'm a big Mana cheapskate because I want a dragon. Dragon's rock but I only killed one so it takes like 6000 mana to make it!

You know to unlock a Rune Knight you need a female warrior at level 10 and a female magician at level 10. Well I made a female battler. Does it have to be a warrior? I thought I'd pose that hear because I don't have a gamefaqs account, and I'm too lazy to register for the Atlus boards.

Hmmmm......I don't have a female warrior. However, all my Archers and Mages are female. The Dragon does indeed rock. Levels up quick, too. And you're right you have to spend a TON of Mana on him, just to make it "Average" (over 3000).

But that's the beauty of this game, everyone will play it differently - with different techniques, and ideas of strategy. I, personally, have "teams", like a small army squad. I even gave them names as such.......In groups of 3, I have :

                              Team Fisty (fighters)

                              Team Arrow (Archers)

                              Team Magic (Mages)

                              Team Prinny (Prinnys)

The rest are the characters the story "forces" to join your party (well, now we have the "Dragon" mascot. Hahah! How about you guys? Are you making a lot of characters? (so you can open up more classes), or sticking with a smaller controlled group that can level up faster, and focus on weapon and items construction.

I must stop playing this game so much.......

Well, things have been going a tad better....at 79 hours (level 52) I've started to level-up more often. Of course, I'm doing this by clearing each story area twice, or even three times.

I'm aware of making sure the last character gets the "kill", in fact, I've gone as far as feeding the enemy health aides to keep it alive so certain characters can get to it before it dies (of poison, or counterattack).

I've also gone back to the Item World to look for any invincibility geo symbols so my lower characters can just go hog wild, getting their weapons ramped up and building the kills all for themselves.

I've combined bonus "specialist" in weapons and armor, and I've used the Dark Assembly to create "Harder Enemies". All this and still, some of my characters just lag behind. Perhaps I should transmigrate all of them! (but not yet, I want more character classes to open up).

More later.....it's 6 AM here in California.....just a week away from a new Governor (who will do just as bad as the last one).

I say make the California candidates all play Disgaea and the one with the highest level at the end of the game wins.

                                Sounds fair to me.
