Its amazing how you can just run stright fowards and press through pass and nine times out of ten your striker will be through on goal. You dont have to think at all to play it.
The one good thing about the game is that, as you say, some of the goals do look spectacular, on FIFA its increabley hard to score out of the penalty area, in this you usualy get about 6 goals a game that are scored from the half way line, its just a shame that you dont really feel like youve done anything to warrant them.

Editing aside and after my initial enjoyment, this game is starting to irk me somewhat. As a casual player I think I may be missing something but;
I've found that regular is far too easy for me (9-1 no contests) yet the step up to Professional seems to be too big a leap.
The CPU players seems to have impossible ball control breaking 6 or 7 tackles before rolling the ball past a completely worthless keeper. Who if he does touch it spills it out to another opposition player to tap in. 4th game running at time of this post. Also they seem to run at impossible speeds with the ball much faster than my players achieve, that is if I'm not caught and tackled. I constantly have to move the ball. I'm using the d-pad as the analogue has them handle like oil tankers when turning.
I've also read how it's easy to score from long range, well I seem to be lucky if I get a shot away. I'm always tackled sometimes from behind or blocked before the shot is away. I try passing to open up play but there is always 4 or 5 players closing down the receiving player. I do a ball over the top it's headed away, I play a through ball it's cut out. I see a long pass along the ground and the player in possession instead decides to pass to a nearer player who's immediately tackled. Sometimes the yellow cross that indicates where a flighted ball doesn't show and you can always guarantee that the computer will win that particular ball no matter what I seem to do.
It's not all bad I have won more than lost in fact I've won more than I've drawn more games 1-1 and only lost once. But it feels like it's not in my control. Last night I had a penalty shoot out I didn't get one single penalty on target, no matter what I tried. That was fun not at all to go out like that. Especially the way my 2-0 lead slipped by goals that felt a bit contrived.
Another thing that I've been witness to is when I win a tackle and the ball breaks free instead of running in the same direction a getting to the lose ball my player jumps about four yards straight back then goes forward thus giving the CPU a head start to the ball which it then flies off up the field with.
I'm persevering with it but I'm not sure I can see the light, despite having a few good wins against Liverpool and Chelsea, I'm starting to feel a bit alienated by the gameplay. The CPU walking through my players to score is starting to grate. I mean Heskey just did it!
I do set formation and tactics and marking assignments, maybe that's my downfall I don't know?

Why can't the goalies hold weak shots? Almunia just spilt another one to see the follow up blasted in.
Now it's 3-0 and my worst result and still another half to play.
A red card for Gallas and the 4-0.
Now instead of kicking a back pass on the first touch Almunia without any input from me decides to roll it forward one touch straight on to Juisse who is right in front of him for a tap in. Incredible. I didn't want the extra touch so why did he have one?
5-0
Thank god that's over Lawrenson's just said that some work is need on the defence, tell me something I don't know.Last edited by NeoStuey; 26-10-2009, 16:50.

Play the game against humans. Talking about how easy it is to score is bull when played competitively. Play the AI and you'll see them back off and invite a long ranger.
Me and Ezee went at it the other night and I'm sure he'll tell you that creating a clear chance on goal, whether winding up for the longer ranger or sliding a sneaky through ball, is something of real feat.
Loving the game. Has its fair share of flaws, but it's the footy game for me. I wouldn't defend it if it was utter ****e. I didn't with 2008 or 2009. Both were pretty dire. 2009 had its moments in offline mp though.Last edited by hudson; 26-10-2009, 19:04.

Revenge is sweet!
Not being a defeatist I've ramped the game up to top player, first game was the return group stage game against Bordeaux. Just come away 3-1 winners, felt like there was more space on the pitch and that the opposition didn't move about in such big packs. Still had to work at the goals and was constantly nervous defending , given how bad I am at that anyway no real surprise to lose the odd goal, another walkthrough of my defence led to there goal.
Hopefully top player will prove to be the place to get some real satisfaction, I don't mind losing if I can see why and feel I had my chances.
