Not sure what to make of the rewind feature, it seems as soon as you hit something the option pops up to rewind and if you say yes it takes you back to a predetermined place, you then continue racing or can rewind further. There's no control options in rewinding..

Just noticed how there is no gear shifting animation in car. Maybe for Forza 4?
I think the danger of making a simulation racing game is that there's always people who are going to find it boring. The only real excitment comes from the handling when you race and understanding each car to nail the perfect lap. Whereas games like GRID have absolutely no depth in the control scheme, it's just all about the visual effects. But I can completely understand why people see Forza 3 as bland or boring.

So I thought this was BRILLIANT.
However, 2 reservations :
1. Rewind mode? NO NO NO NO NO NO! PLEASE stop putting this in games, PLEASE! At least don't f*cking bother me every time my tyres hit grass when I cut a corner!
2. Loading! It loads the race, then you hit "go to grid" and it loads some more, then if you want to watch the replay, it loads some more.
Otherwise, this is the game I've been waiting for.
Obviously the graphics are immense, but the handling is GODLIKE, nigh-on perfect.Last edited by Jebus; 24-09-2009, 13:30.

its a really odd feeling for me playing this, like I said I just can't fault it, handling is crisp and you feel so connected to the road, I love how the weight feel is communicated when you go fast over a crest for example.
it doesn't feel as dry to me as say Gran Turismo which i let go a while back but its just not exciting me to play in the way something like Pure, Grid or PGR4 did. Maybe this type of sim is just not for me now.

It's a shame the demo doesn't contain any of the features that would make this game stand out a little more - the E3 footage with all of the fancy stunt driving and video-editing options looked pretty ace.
But playing this demo just didn't excite me at all - it felt like a clinical racing game by numbers. Still, I'll be the first to admit that I've not played the full versions of either of the previous Forza games; as such, I stuck with Medium difficulty (I noticed that plenty of assists were set to "On" when doing this) - I'll try it a couple more times with the assists turned off, but I can't see myself being any more thrilled by this.
Mind you, I got the same feeling when playing every GT from 2 onwards, so I guess I'm just not a petrolhead
I should leave this thread (and this entire genre), never to return again.
As an aside, didn't Turn 10 have a dig at Polyphony getting stuck in a rut after E3? Perhaps they should've proved that they weren't heading the same way - can anyone notice anything substantially different to Forza 2?

Just had a blast on this. Nice front end, clean menus, love all the white. Cars look great!
Had a go in the Porsche and the Ferrari, and both were great fun to drive. The sound of the cars is very good, the track on offer is great to drive around as it has variations in hight, tight sections etc.
Cannot wait until its released, gonna buy me a wheel me'thinks :P

It's pretty enjoyable with assists turned off.
In my defence, Turn 10 should've turned some of them off for Medium difficulty anyway - I stand by my opinion that the game's garbage with them all turned on.
I still don't think I enjoyed it enough for a full price purchase, but after my last turnaround of opinion you can all fully expect me to be down as a day-oner in about 25 minutes.

I was baffled on my first attempt at the demo, when I realised auto braking was ON by default! I was getting nowhere near the front of the pack then I realised that not only was the AI braking for me, but I was braking as well, almost halting at corners.
Although I have to say, I reckon I could get my wife playing with auto-braking on!

taking the auto braking off makes it feel a lot more dynamic, you can also turn off the constant rewind messages in the hud options.
now to turn off traction control and get the back end out a bit.
its starting to warm on me but again I think its a bad demo, not in quality terms at all as game is superb but an odd choice of track.
