As Chris said, it is purely bonus content and you can happily play through the main game without ever having to touch the extra content.

The bonus content on the disc is a load of cars as well as some tracks (not sure how many of each though).

problem with Forza's driver AI is that they not only drive perfect line and seldom make mistakes, they also bump you off the road, make you spinning or damage your car while seemingly taking no damage themselves.

but, as already mentioned by Malc, most likely and unfortunately the driver AI will be untouched in FM3. i was also hoping that hired drivers could gain skill levels and so get better with ever won race. thus making the endurance races much more fun if you prefer to just watch.

If you think of Halo 3's menus and how well they incorporated the single player campaign with the multiplayer features and vice versa, well this is exactly the same with Forza 3! A lot of the features were already present in Forza 2, but they've cleaned it all up and added some new features like being able to rate anything people have produced, or being able to search specifically with words to find the thing you're looking for.
nice ! it was already great in Forza2, I loved it you could see at every track , race or timeattack the fastest times and your friendstimes with the touch of a button, you could see the ghost times, set ups etc etc...

I hope the single player game isn't too boring, for me the game only really begins when I've completed the single player game, take it online, fine tuning and upgrading cars and battling with your friends for fast times on the leaderboards.
Single player is only good to get to know the new tracks and earn some cars

I have yet to hire a driver to try the AI's abilities. I will be more inclined to try that out on the Endurance races.

The opponents do have a tendency to overcook things and go somewhat off course... certainly on easier settings anyway. They have also have managed to spin me out a few times.

There does seem to be a decent number of race events to do on single player. These can be done as part of the Career Seasons when they would appear on certain days, or you can do a series as a standalone from the Event Menu.

Again, the times are very similar to the demo. However, the 'tips' that you can read whilst it's loading are genuinely interesting. They are not just your typical 'press the A button to use the handbreak'. They include information about the whole history of motorsport from manufacturers origins to what cars hold certain speed records as well as historical events that have occurred throughout motorsports life. They are interesting to any motorsport enthusiast and it makes the loading times less of a bore.

so i take it you finished Forza 2's single player up to level 50? i salute you! i am trying hard to do so myself right now in order unlock all cars, especially the Les Mans prototypes, before moving on to FM3. but the lacklustre pacing of the career is really giving me a hard time. i am already on Lv. 40 and the games keeps forcing me to race in factory spec street cars in the same old tracks over and over again.

                  @ Malc
did the semi-automatic shifting make it into the final game?

I wamted tp change down on one race (using auto) and didn't think about the semi-auto from 2. Need to check that out.

It is nice to get a new car every time you get a Driver Level... I now have the first 20, some of which I wanted to buy anyway. I have been notimg them if anyone is interested.

yes I have, it wasn't too difficult, it just took a lot of time... mostly I would be on P1 in the first lap and the rest of the laps were just to try to get a fast laptime...

Although I haven't got to them yet, I believe there are drag racing events and drifting events to add to the mix. There are also more tracks that are actually good which should help you enjoy the career mode a bit more than Forza 2.

Having said that though, I think the career is twice as big in Forza 3 from 2, so it still may get a bit repetitive after a while.

There's a lot more tracks though. It'd be nice if the DLC tracks were incorporated into the career too.

I got to level 50 on Forza 2 and have got a gold on every career race, but I'm still a way from owning every car. You need a ridiculous amount of dosh to buy them all.

Not game related as such, but after being stung by the Batman Arkham Asylum CE (Crappy Edition) it's nice to see a Collectors Edition that's well put together. And not a rip off.

                            +10 to Faith in CE's.

Agreed, one of the best Collectors Editions in ages, and with this and the Demons Souls and Uncharted 2 special editions, my faith is (almost) restored!

                              Win!

I was really hoping that they'd do this with Forza 3. I sort of feel the dlc tracks are wasted because they're not useable in career mode. Seems like that's a bigger issue now, with some tracks being on the second disc.
