Had a great online session last night with some friends from another forum. Did some standard racing from Class F and above. Had a few NASCAR styles races on the Ovals with the NASCAR vehicles and ended up with a couple of Cat and Mouse sessions on the Ring which were fun.

I use the Braking only line which is useful as it shows the point at which panic braking should set in...
I was pleasantly surprised to see the fuel gauge on the internal view (when you can see it) was actually working as the car used fuel for an Endurance Race. I wonder if the Temperature Gauge also works...

Yeah, I've got braking line switched on but I missed the option for "auto-braking" - serves me right for rushing in to play rather than setting up properly!
I thought "wow, I'm amazing at this. My cornering / braking ability is better than I normally am in this kind of game". It wasn't until I missed a braking point but the car slowed anyway that I thought "hang on, something not quite right here!"

That is outstanding!
I remember being awestruck by some of the designs people posted in the Forza 2 threads and people said it was "easy" and "just shapes and layers" so I decided to go into the decal editor in this and create my own masterpiece.
It is anything but easy and I'm resigned to the fact (as expected to be fair) that I will never create anything amazing and I will continue to be in awe of people who create designs like yours.

Need some advice from those of you more au fait with the tuning options.
My Chevrolet Aveo5 LT when tuned for class C races has enough power to compete but is really struggling with understeer. It’s a FWD car to from what I understand understeer is common but this is really impacting the speeds I can tackle corners, having to slow down much more than most opponents on the very sharpest bends.
I went back to stock parts and whilst overall performance was slower, handling was much improved and I could take the corners at higher speeds.
Is there any tuning options I can tinker with to help combat this understeer?

unfortunally I still didn't have much time to play this game (chaos at work.... grrrr) So far I have just played season play and haven't tried it online yet, my first impressions are very positive about this, handling really made a big step forward, but was already clear after playing the demo. The graphics are really stunning, it goes at a constant 60fps with the cars and tracks looking really nice.
AI is ok, now they do notice where you are on the track and when racing in comparable cars they offer sometimes a nice challenge (on tracks I don't know)
I'm now racing with A class cars, and I'm absolutely loving it racing with my Porsche GT3 RS!
Still a loooong way to go and many things to do before I can really comment on the game, but so far it's been really amazing to play.

I recommend for C class the Vauxhall VX220, I cruised to victory without tuning it against other C class cars

The Chevy is a small hatchback. It would have been a Daewoo had they not been swallowed by GM. I used the car a little and didn't have too much trouble with understeer. Maybe you are leaving the braking too late?
I have been using a wired controller and the feedback is much more noticeable. I find it makes driving the cars seem a little less remote than with the wireless controller.
I am coming to the conclusion that to get all the cars in your garage (which I did with Forza 2) might get a little frustrating due to the high cost of some of them. Can you actually make as much money on Endurance races as you could with Forza 2? I used a hired driver to get cash while I was doing other things. On this you make 77K a race for the top Endurance events (which take about an hour).

season mode is just brilliant in this, and the rewind feature rather than being ill advised lets you really hang it out and go for fast (clean) laps without the fear of having to redo a 10min plus race because of one cock up near the end.
the Fuji mountain rally stages are stunning, I've gone up to hard and am sliding an old 70s Datsun 510 with a rust paint job round the most beautiful sweeping stages.
brilliant game, though I still don't have a clue how a few circles and squares get turned into fighter planes and peoples faces.
