I got my online trial code, but I entered it via my PS3. I was supposed to do it via my PSP right? Curses...
*EDIT* I get a choice of Story Mode, Multi Mode, and Internet Multimode, so I guess it worked anyway.
I've only ever played PSO on GC in English. I'm sure I could trial and error my way through, but is there any kind of FAQ for this available? I could use some help with the options and item management.Last edited by J0e Musashi; 14-11-2009, 13:13.Kept you waiting, huh?

You get the option anyway, even without a code.
When you connect to the internet it has to sign in using your PSN account.
Options menu:
Inventory; Character Info; Map; Mission Info; Community; System
Inventory->weapon/equipment (1/2):
Add to palette
Link to Photon Arts
Drop
Send to storage
Dump
Return
item (3):
Add to palette
Use
Drop
Send to storage
Dump
Return
clothes (4):
Drop
Send to storage
Dump
Return
System:
Save
Options
Return to title menu (~quit)
That covers the basics of the menu. The "palette" is accessed during missions when you hold X and then use the D-buttons to select what you want to use/equip.Last edited by kryss; 14-11-2009, 14:26.

I just downloaded the Japanese demo of this...a little late. I have to say, its a massive improvement over the first, everything seems to run a lot smoother. I love the new free roaming shops/hub etc like PSU rather than static screens like the first Phantasy Star Portable.
I was going to buy a Japanese points card and download it, but there is too much japanese text I would really want to read, so I guess I will have to wait ages for the Euro release

Changed the thread to include the full game.
Am I the only one playing this then? Ah well.
The AI is definitely better - I have to make sure I get a hit in on all the enemies otherwise the other characters kill them and I don't get any EXPPhoton arts don't level up the more you use them now. You have to find a higher-level disk and then learn that.
It is tough. Similar level requirements as PSO apply even offline for the free missions. C-rank can be done by anyone, B-rank level 20, A-rank level 60 and S-rank level 100. I'm level 63 right now after about 37 hours of playing. I haven't finished the story mode yet as I'm doing all the free missions I can first. Technically that would be all of them though...
The game is on par in terms of enjoyment with PSZ on the DS, but I still haven't been back online since the demo trial as I'm trying to level up first.

Hi,
Yes I am playing this, downloaded it off the japanese PSN website. Had a nightmare trying to download it as it used to timeout from the server. Anyway, its down now, and I am loving it!
If you want to venture online sometime give me a shout, although I am still going through the story missions and getting to grips with it all.
I have to say, I was a BIG PSO fan, and this is as close as a PSO has come to the original. Its a massive improvement over the first one, and a lot better then PSU (which isnt saying much lol)
I downloaded a few missions, and looking at those websites, there is a Maximum attack event happening soon online as well.
Couple of websites I am using atm that might be useful for others.

There was an update for the online mode of this released on Christmas Day.
On the PSP system menu, press triangle and select update. You'll need 19MB free on your memory stick to download and run the update. Then you can put the password "ITEMGIFT" into the terminal in your room to get 5 photon boosters.Last edited by kryss; 06-02-2010, 22:50.

I had a blast on this last night. I have played the Japanese full version, so the main difference was being able to understand the story. Obviously its nice that I can actually understand the text and dialogue, but mainly for the item descriptions.
I honestly think this is pretty amazing for the PSP, the fact that it is better than the full blown console version. They did seem to listen to peoples complaints of PSP1 and improve most aspects.
I have to say the French sounding womens voice in this is a laugh.
