    Are the goggles just a party piece? They are not serious field equipment i take it?

    Already some info on gaf and posts about modded hacked controllers working a-ok with the game, still classic cod infinite respawning enemies etc, this is just modern warfare with a 2 on the end. Everyone will buy it tho..

    I dont understand why people go nuts over these games, do you get a free toss off when you pre order or something, i think these games like a buy into degenerating society, sit on your sofa playing with 13 year old scrubs who dont go to school etc.

    I got an idea, if you reach prestiege rank er.. whatever the max one is, 10 or something? You automatically get drafted into your respective countries armed forces

      Regarding the respawning enemies, they seem to be handled in a not-entirely-dissimilar way to the enemies in Uncharted in that they appear in waves that trigger checkpoints when cleared. I've not noticed any blatant infinitely respawning enemies so far, but I've only played for a couple of hours.

      To say the engine hasn't changed is hugely short-sighted - it's clearly handling a lot more gameplay mechanics than the previous game and is far more open in places too. However, it no longer runs at a solid 60fps - I've noticed dips on more than one occasion.

      It's pretty much business as usual, though - hasn't improved on the formula as much as I'd hoped but it's still highly intense, polished and enjoyable. I'm a massive fan of the direction Infinity Ward took the Call of Duty series and this hasn't placed a foot wrong so far; if there's one complaint I might level at it, it's that it just seems a bit "safe" so far.

        Engine improvements would not encompass gameplay enhancements this is done game code side. However the only big engine change I can tell (without playing it) is that they are now supporting better texture usage (streaming etc)

          As ive stated on these forums many times before, infinite respawing enemies were never in MW, its just that most people are too lazy to kill the ammount of enemies required in order to make them stop spawning.. On Veteran some places required you to kill what seemed like upwards of 100 enemies before you could safley advance.

          I would imagine the case will be the same with this game.

            Great. So they make a big song and dance about disabling a Live feature I use every time and really enjoy as it promotes "cheating" (ie Party Chat) yet don't put any kind of anti-cheat code in it to prevent the dicks who mod their pads. Pathetic.

            Seriously, surely all they need is:

            Code:
            if player_pistol_shots_per_second > 10 {
                  player_model = "player_model_with_handbag";
                  player_animation = "bends_over";
                  player_sound = "I am a sad little bastard.wav";
                  player_allow_movement = 0;
            }
            I think that would do it, and be ****ing hilarious.

            I left Cod4 before the hacks really hit, but I understand it got really bad and lots of players had them.

              They really can get to **** with the online on this. I'm not even touching it online. Single player and co-op all the way.

                I've little interest in the general multiplayer side of things too. Spec-ops sounds like it will be amazing though and I'm all over that.

                Anyone got any impressions of that yet?

                  I hope this hasn't changed, it's the thing that really makes it play the way it does.

                    You see I really like Call of Duty (In since the beginning), and yet I'm really **** at them because I like to take a patient, tactical approach to any given encounter. I'll genuinely be amazed if I haven't waited around long enough to see the end of the most of the spawn triggers.

                      Yeah. During the beach landing in CoD2, when you get up the cliff, I got stuck there on Veteran for the longest time. I convinced myself that eventually, if I stayed put and killed the never ending enemies, they'd stop spawning. They never did. In one sitting I must have been there well over 30 minutes, possibly an hour, and killed more than 100 enemies. They kept coming, relentless.

                      I didn't play single player MW1 more than one and a half times, but I'm sure they were still infinitely spawning - at least it felt that way. If not, and it's just say 50 waves of 10 troops, it's still a piss poor way to make a game in this day and age. Make the game tougher with ai, not respawning enemies.

                        For me that is exactly how COD should be, the enemies keep coming and behave in the same way everytime you play you have to keep moving just to stay alive.
                        It's almost like a bullet hell FPS and makes the COD games unique in that way. I would of never of done that mile high club level if the AI had of reacted in a different way each time to me doing the same thing.

                            no XP for playing Spec Ops then, and just 2 players online... that's very disappointing, especially since it's great fun. i even doubt there will be any rewards except from unlocking further missions.

                            campaign feels somewhat dull so far (mission 5) - it's by no means bad but the story and atmosphere are simply not up with the predecessor. will be interesting to see what the first reviews will make of it when the embargo finally ends.

                            haven't played much multiplayer but it runs smooth and stable, matchmaking works faster, no filter though.

                              People are liking this ? I played the first 3 missions yesterday and I think they ruined it.
                              Its to arcadey and the weapons are not realistic anymore, twin TMP's ? this is not Halo it was a great game and I think its a shadow of itself now.

                                It looks good for a 60fps console shooter, but it's now a dumb movie version of war, there is nothing in this game I could see real special forces guys doing.
