I don't find the do react the same way or I would have done it by now, sure they spawn the same locations and often are in the same spots but at the same time they do sometimes do something unusual. Same for your AI mates, they sometimes really help you out then other times they do nothing often standing in your way for no real reason.

I have pretty much given up on that level now as unattainable.

It's almost like a bullet hell FPS and makes the COD games unique in that way. I would of never of done that mile high club level if the AI had of reacted in a different way each time to me doing the same thing.

I am normally alone in my opinions of things like this, I can see how it could be fun but there is no stand out moment like the sniper mission from the first

Its to arcadey and the weapons are not realistic anymore, twin TMP's ? this is not Halo it was a great game and I think its a shadow of itself now.
Totally disagree. Arcadey?! It plays pretty much the same as the previous Modern Warefare. I think the missions are fantastic, they have actually made the whole thing more cinematic and "epic".

To be honest I think some people want this to be poor or fail just because it is Activision and the fact that it is popular, after all it is "cool" to hate things that are popular these days no?!

It is a marked improvement on the original in pretty much everyway yet that won't be "enough" for people who have already decided they are going to "hate" it.

there's nothing to argue about, this is very much a matter of taste. it's more run & gun action, enemies approaching in numerous waves from all sides, no fronts and lots of chaos. but i think it's safe to say the campaign lacks in atmosphere and standout moments!

Who was arguing?! I was stating my opinion which happened to be different to dvdmike's.

It is about as much run and gun as the previous Modern Warfare. If you run and gun in this then you won't get very far, even on the medium difficulty. You can do it but it will more than often result in death, this was the same case in the original too. To be successful you need to have a considered approach to what is going on around you, again, exactly like the previous game.

Oh and I would definitely disagree about the atmosphere and standout moments. I don't want to mention them as I don't want to ruin it for people but there are several missions that are just fantastic. The combination of fast/frenetic action and slow/"stealthy" gameplay is spot on.

well, you said you "disagree" which sounds like there was something to agree about.

right, run & gun wont bring you far, but i think "chaos" is the more appropriate term to describe what i think of the campaign so far. the story is hard to follow and there is simply tension lacking for me.

anyway, haven't finished the campaign yet, halfway through i guess, and hopefully these standout moments you mentioned will still show up

Not really, I just stated that I don't agree with what he said. Why does it have be an argument?! Not sure what you are trying to get at to be honest.

Chaos would be the correct word to use when describing some missions but definitely in a good way, well for me anyway. Not that I have ever been involved in a real war but I can imagine it would be very chaotic no?! Gunfire going off everywhere and people screaming/shouting, sounds chaotic to me.

Well it is quite evident you are a very hard man to please when it comes to gaming so I dunno if you will find the later missions to be "standout". As you said it is a matter of taste/opinion.

I can fully understand why they don't want to pay to run any servers considering the piracy figures for MW, but it seems an odd choice to leave out the option alltogether
                  Its only 9vs9 on pc

I wanted to like it, but after the imersive sniper mission in cod4 its gone all bruckheimer and too dumb action movie.
Gone is the lone soldier on a mission with the war going on around him.
Its gone too far into the superman halo end of the market.
I loved COD 1,2, and 90% of 4 and I just finished this and liked about 40%.
But as I said I always stand alone in my opnions and I dont care that I do, I dont mind if others like it when I dont thats why there are other games out there for me and this for you.

Yes there might not be a "lone soldier" mission (not that CoD4 MW had a lone mission, you were still supported!) but that doesn't make it a dumb action movie at all in my opinion (story actually surprised me!). Infact you still have one or two missions where you actually do feel like you are alone and they are done just as well as the sniper mission in the original.

Not sure where you're getting the "superman halo" comparison from, this still feels like CoD and more importantly it still plays like it too. Fair enough though I guess, your opinion and all that. I personally think it is a quality FPS, one of the best (if not the best) currently available.

Does it really matter? This game is all about the multiplayer anyway.

Well yes it does because the single player campaign is part of the package and to some (even though multiplayer is where the game will get its legs) it is an important part.

Wow this thread got busy. So how is the MP side of things? Particularly the maps and new perks etc... Are these as balanced out as I hope or are there some annoyances? I know they made martyrdom a deathstreak now which is much better but I am wondering if it's better than COD4 online or just the same with more gloss.

My main concern is they seem to have thrown everything at this title in terms of ideas but when that happens it becomes too mixed. Some stick and some just get half baked.

There is realistic and put 50p in to pay, this is getting close to the latter

mike, why do you think you would be alone with your opinions about this campaign? don't be too elitist i think chances are a lot of Call of Duty fans are going to be slightly disappointed with what's on offer here. me included.
