Moment of truth tonight, so far I've 'only' done around 8-9 hours on multiplayer as the Special Ops and Single Player have been so time demanding. However, now that I've finally gotten the Platinum done I'm gonna be sinking my time more solidly into the mode. Mainly been playing Mercenary Team Deathmatch as I've always found clans incredibly boring to play with and against.

I'd call my self a pro Riot Shield guy, use 2 setup of Shield/Blast(useful against RPG's and tubers) or Shield/Throwing Knife both with a the ranger shotgun, the only time i die now is being ganged up on in open maps and what i call a "glitch" getting Knifed through a front attack if im just standing, seems to only block a knife attack if you duck and turn towards them, also seems the knife has priority vs Shield Bash in a head on clash when both are triggered at the same time.

I love using the riot shields just for laughs, but either I'm crap at using them or they're seriously underpowered. It's just not fair that you can still get shot in the feet even when you're crouching or tactically outwitted by someone stepping to your side then knifing u, but it's worth persevering with for those sweet moments when you corner someone. I swear you can actually see panic in their eyes!

Getting shot inthe foot when crouching is usually down to gradiants on the floor like ramps and even if you move while crouching your feet can be targetable and are prime for the light machineguns to catch you with 1/2 round and put you out.
Auto shotguns be a problem if they strafe around you, just try to turn with them and soak the damage up or as you turn move forward and shield bash hopefully you can stun them for a bit. Sadly, not much you can do about the top shotgun, just taking any damage from it is death, best you can do is use your flash or stun grenades before running at them.
Do use the Blast Shield, i survived countless times thanks to it, alot of people now just thrown grenades, tube you or that damned RPG7, you can even survive semtex stuck onthe shield and C4. or if feel grenades aren't coming your way use a throwing knife, very easy to just turtle, line up a knife and chuck when they reload.

Managed to get 1000 points on this, its only the 3rd game i've got all the points for, the campaign on vet wasn't too bad apart from a few areas late in the game where things got a bit hectic, spec ops was tough though, I did everything on co-op expect for the very last one, my co-op partner had given up so I had to do that one solo.

After 3 very unenjoyable nights with this, I'm ready to pack it in. Been horrible, at least a third of players per game are using the cheap perks (Commando + Fast + Knifing, or Akimbo + Shotgun), and you get the Jav + Grenade nonsense.
Also, for some reason we're finding ourselves playing a lot of Americans all of a sudden, so latency issues. Until this week it was only 1 game in 100, now it's more like 1 in 3.
Add all these factors together, and it's just not fun right now. I'll wait until a patch or two appears.

Pretty much feel the same, the hardcore are starting to drive the casuals and average players away with the "best" setups which get you top scores and crush the enemy but go against the rest of the games logic, i don't think i played against what would call normal players for the last week, you can use all the team work you want but those ****ing akimbo Shotguns just require you to point them in the general direction of something you want to kill.

I'd like to get the twat at IW who had the Akimbo idea and smack him round the head with dual weapons. What a stupid ****ing idea.
What is even more perplexing though, is how that kind of cheapness isn't picked up in testing. Didn't ANYONE sit down and try each Akimbo weapon setup in turn, and realise how powerful it was? I can see Exploits getting through testing, but that kind of fundamental balancing issue should never have made it out of the first round of QA.

It's funny isn't it.
These are just my thoughts entirely.
The past week and a half of playing this online has made me hang my Modern Warfare 2 gloves up for the foreseeable future.
I play queensbury rules.
Not this:
- javelindom
- speedy gonzalez knifey-boy setup
- akimbo sniping shotguns 1HKO
While i can't argue about the results it yields (not tried them myself) i just don't play cheap.

You'll never get a properly matchmade game, the lowest level I've played against is a 13, when I was 9, everyone else is 40 at least.
My way has always been "play fair or **** off". I'm not one to cheat, if that means I don't get to play my favourite games because of the arseholes that do, then so be it, that's my choice.
I have to say though, has anyone found a game on 360 that isn't horribly exploited by cheaters in some way or another? I'm getting absolutely sick to death of handing over money for games and subscriptions to LIVE only for Microsoft to just NOT police it at all. They claim this that and the other, but the truth is that they take your money and couldn't care less, it's bad enough having to host games yourself via the P2P gaming system they operate, but allowing people to cheat and glitch with no punishment? It's just not on.
In the past year, games such as Gears of War 2, Fifa 09, Left 4 Dead have all been littered, absolutely full of cheaters, yet it's never stopped. You have no option, either cheat or don't play.
A lot of this is why I've gone back to Fifa 10, there might be cheating, but at least we have a good laugh as a "party/club" whilst playing.Last edited by Jebus; 05-12-2009, 12:37.
