I understand what you're saying mate and I agree the matchmaking isn't perfect but the people with perks aren't invincible, they can be killed.

Before I get vilified, I am not suggesting people are crap or anything but if you are decent enough then higher level player shouldn't be anything but a minor annoyance. I am a level 47 (I think) and have had lower levels cause me some problems. At the end of the day the game is about being quicker to shoot your opponent that he shoots you, even with perks and everything.

To be fair (and as ive said before ive no problem with any player as long as the lag isnt present, if they beat me because there simply better, then fair doos) i dont think the matchmaking works at all on any level.

Im pretty sure it matches you on neither your rank level or your stats, ie kill to deaths, score or accuracy. So i can see why players that want to be eased into the online, and are getting rather miffed with it.

A lot of the good guns and perks are available from the start, or very early on. Its knowledge of the maps and knowing where the likely hotspots are going to be that counts.

I got my highest killstreak to date and had a 24-0 game when I was only Lv4 right after I prestiged, and I'm not a great player by any means.

Plan for success for n00bs..

Just use the 'extra strength' perks from the get go and a light machine gun and you'll soon have the drop on people and then when you drop back to an assault rifle (after dealing with the wild firing LMG's) you can seriously kick arse.

Such a great game. Pretty sure I've said that before though.

Getting a bit fed up of getting panned by kids online now, this is stopping being fun and feeling like a grind, some games you just never get a break and the airport level is fast becoming my nemesis. Sometimes the matchmaing seems so unbalanced.

Going to start Oblivion for a bit of a more calming experience.

agreed. there should deffo be a perkless / killstreakless game mode where its just 2 weapons and equipment, with no hud and extra bullet damage.

That's what I did on COD4 and kept the RPD as my stock weapon, went prestige (just the oonce) and enjoyed it online even though I'm 9 times out of ten the worst player in the game.
I'd quite often have a couple of hours each week on my weekly gaming night playing against all unsundry and having a good time of it.
MW2 though is a different kettle, done basically the same but although I'm still at the bottom my kill/death ratio is stupidly bad and just no fun online.

I'd go with that, I'd even go as far as banning grenades and sniper rifles.

Yes for me COD4 is loads better though personally I much prefer Killzone 2

I've said that all along, since COD4 in fact... that there should be a Hardcore - Pure mode of play that strips away the killstreak awards and possibly the perks as well. If they did that I dare say this would boil down to something similar to Ghost Recon type warfare.

As for noob tips... given the lag that has been present since day one (1.06 patch coming though with <30ms search) I've been going with an assault rifle class that always has sleight of hand and stopping power. Pick something that doesnt use burst fire (M4A1 is a good starter) and make sure you're never caught reloading and your shots are as powerful as possible.

So I'm at level 19 now and finally all the little annoyances are coming together to make this simply no fun! To top it off I finally ran into the akimbo shotguns today and that really was the needle that broke the haystack.

If I'm not being forced to listen to under age players singing, screeching, swearing or taunting (yes I'm aware you can mute but I shouldn't have to, lord only knows why they disabled party chat, or even why Microsoft allowed them to) then I'm getting instantly killed after spawning, or unloading a full clip into someone only to be one shot killed by them. I mean, what's kind of game spawns you under an enemy helo?

I tried the 3rd person 1vs1 cage match as well and it instantly put me against a level 49 player who literally tracked me, jumping off rooftops to knife me ninja style. He also had akimbo shotguns which he used to snipe me (yes, sniping with shotguns) and somehow managed to kill me with three seperate weapons despite the game only allowing two.

All the things that make the game unique, the perks etc are what is ruining the enjoyment for me, for every great match I'll have three bad ones.

Oh well, I know I'm in the minority but there you go.

I'm having the same annoying lag and bugs as you guys. I went back to WAW the other night, and it honestly felt a lot better. I do enjoy MW2, but it isn't the game it should have been.

The abundance of air support in this game completely knackers hardcore mode, halfway through a match its almost impossible to go outdoors without dying.

One final annoyance I forgot in my previous post, starting a free for all match with only four players I quickly got to the top of the scoreboard...suddenly I'm getting destroyed from everywhere? Oh I see apparently now 8 people are playing the match but the game hasn't bothered telling me, cheers!
