Holy cow, finally finished dark carnival on advanced. According to the end screen it took us 4 hours and we killed 7000 zombies

Only two of us made it but it was still ace fun. Definately a harder campaign than dead center, didn't do the gnome (did you guys do it on advanced ?)

I did the gnome on easy with bots (until someone actualy joined in during the last chapter lol), I would imagine its not that hard on normal but on advance its pretty much impossible.

Hell, the campaign is nearly impossible on advance Id say, the end bit of the 4th segment is just insane.

The ticket isle? Yeah that took us a few tries. Think you've got to get lucky with molotovs and pipe bombs. We nailed down a strategy kinda knowing it would pay off eventually.

        Beat Moustachio though

So am I the only one really not feeling this?

Was excited as hell when it arrived but instead ended up not playing it for nearly a week in favour of Assassins Creed 2, Modern Warfare 2 and Fifa 10!

Finally got around to playing it and whilst the set pieces are fun, the game NEEDS four people. I found the CPU AI absolutely horrendous, constantly chastising me for shooting them (or shooting me!) because they ran in front of my gunfire!

Thing is, I'm absolutely convinced in four player it'd be brilliant, but with so many games out at one time these days I'm concerned this one is going to get lost amongst the others released!

Oh well, here's hoping people come back to this!

played it yesterday and not liking it at all.

I think my problem lay with the fact I'd drunk my fill of the basic game premise after a few months of the original so the sequel was never going to do much for me in hindsight.

I found it much harder to know where to go in the levels and kept going round in circles. Overall found it pretty frustrating and gave up after a couple of chapters as was fairly bored with it.

Don't think its a bad game, think I've had my fill of shooting things in the face and would rather play something nice now !

That's kind of how we felt last night, we absolutely hammered the original when it came out and this doesn't feel very different to me at all!

We also had that problem, had no idea where to go half the time. On the level where you fill the car with gas, we literally couldn't work out how to get the final 2 tanks from one side of the area, they were up high and we just couldn't seem to get them! Eventually all my team died and I was left trying to get there...couldn't find it...then the third tank spawned and we just said "**** this" and went on Fifa 10.

always good to share some grief and know its just not yourself being a div with things !

I had the words of Danny Glover in my mind from lethal weapon all the time I was playing, 'I'm too old for this sh*t'.

For most part Ive actualy found it easier to see where to go next than in the original game, mainly becuase when youre going in the right direction your characther will actualy tell the others to go "This Way!". Though there was a few times during Swamp Fever the other day that I ended up going around in circles, everything in that campaign looks the same.

It really is a MASSIVE improvmeny over the original in many ways but at the end of the day its still left 4 dead, if youre bored of it then youre bored of it.

Luckily for me, shooting zombies never seems to bore me.

I went against my word and picked this up yesterday for a 4 player lan sesh, although we ended up playing MW2 online for most of the day we did spend a good few hours with this.

I'll admit it, this game is an improvement over the original in many ways. Based on the first campaign only the level design is, for the most part, far better and the set pieces are a massive step up too. Some of them are just evil and asking you to get from A to B rather than just hold A is a really simple but clever move by Valve. I really liked the Gun Store one.

It has lost some of the fine balance by introducing all the new items, weapons and special infected but behind the chaos I'm sure there is still a finely balanced setup somewhere.

We did find the last proper stage of the first campaign difficult to navigate though. The level had a great set piece but it didn't really make sense where we were going, not helped that every section looked the same as the last.

The last setpiece of the campaign was brilliant, took us several attempts and had to come up with a few different stratagies but got there in the end. The director is eviland the game is MUCH harder in my opinion, I did the original on Advanced without too many issues but this was kicking my arse. In the end we started again and dropped it down to Normal.

I'm loving it, then I'm lucky and have 3 friends with the game and so can actually just moan at each other when we mess up...

casing point : c5m4 .. stayed up top after hitting the ride (two went down to hit the switch and died instantly), both had low health and decided to run for it, started running, I turned round and shot my teammate in the face (down he went)! Then ran to rescue two in the closet, managed that, then run all way through the last part... tank showed up.. uhoh crap.. adrenelined up and started to run, couldnt get in safe house door, was incapacitated on sh door, then teammate (only one left alive) runs, tried to close door but my body is blocking it so it bounces open, has to get me up but a common infected runs in and incaps him !

Was the most awesome thing ever..

                      and frustrating
                      =)

Big meh at even trying to play this game with randoms. I was in a game just now and while I was reviving a team-mate one of the other players started to shoot me til my health was almost at zero. When I questioned why he did that, his response was "I was angry". He was angry because the rest of us didn't stop to help him get an achievement. I asked him "why didn't you speak up then instead of randomly shooting me?", his response was "I didn't feel like it". After that he just started shouting and swearing at me, awesome. Oh and yes, he was an American teenager.

                        *sighs*

This hasn't impressed me quite as much as I hoped. It's an excellent game and I love the new setting, game modes, weapons and improved Director - especially that it now has the ability to change the weather and lighting conditions but I'm not sure about the new special infected. The charger and spitter, in particular, seem overpowered and generally speaking, part of me feels the new enemies, instead of adding to the experience, dilute it. Less really is more sometimes and I think L4D2 is a case in point.

The A.I. is frustratingly poor too, strange as it was pretty decent in the original, they take an age to follow you this time around and seem more focused on watching eachother's backs than watching yours. It's not too big a deal as almost everybody with Live will be playing with human players anyway, but it's a big problem for those playing singleplayer, and frustrating for Live players when a human player drops out and is replaced with a very stupid bot. Don't think the characters are as likeable or charasmatic this time round either, but that's not really important.

So, yeah, it's still a great game and am pleased I got it but it's not as good as I was hoping and not as good as the original.

There's definitely a bug in the AI bots that was present which has since been fixed on the PC version. Probably exists in the 360 one and will be fixed when they amass more fixes like the first.
