Miranda is repeating herself to me now, telling me she's gonna jump me when it's quiet. I can call it off with her, and I'm tempted to go with Tali now...but...

Honestly, it's ridiculous that I even care, but that's why I'm hoping they continue the relationship into the third game. Once the 50GS pops up maybe I won't care.

I managed to be enough of a PARAGON!!!! to calm down the Miranda/Jack situation AND the Legion/Tali one. Jebus Shepard rocks, but he WILL savage any woman that comes his way.

I did have a query though, if I go through this playthrough as PARAGON!!! and sleep with Miranda, but then go through on "insanity" as a RENEGADE!!! and dirt Jack, which of those playthroughs will be imported into Mass Effect 3?

Heh, see, I still think this is a case of the game design, not the writing... but I didn't have that particular problem. Knew I wanted to see what Tali's plot thread was like as soon as I started the game, so I pretty much stuck with her; I pissed off Miranda when I sided with Jack, so that wasn't an option, and when Jack asked if I had feelings for her I flat-out said no.

Felt very odd chatting about it with my friend, comparing playthroughs... the first game we end up talking about virtual members of the opposite sex (weird enough and slightly OMGnerrrds embarassing in itself) and it's a Bioware RPG.

I avoid any discussion with the females in this game in front of my wife.

It feels just WAY too nerdy letting her see that ****!

Guys, could we use spoilers on some of the relationship stuff please. I'm not that far in and don't want to know about any 'situations' before I get to them.

Jebus, just started as a renegade after finishing the game. If you import your ME2 character, it will be a new career. So new saves etc. Doesn't mess with your first playthrough unlike the first game. However, you will still be the level you were at when you finished the game.

I agree with you that they were both pretty bland, but I still thought that bit was insane. I don't recall ever seeing something like that in a game before however.

This concerns me greatly. I mean it was great to see the old crew in this game but whats going to happen in mass effect 3. There will be what, 14 major characters you will have to come across somewhere in the galaxy as well as all the new party members.

                  On the relationships thing:

I thought various interviews had stated that the reason Kaiden/Ashley/Liara were sidelined in this is due to the fact that it's a suicide mission and they wanted a way to continue those relationships in ME3 without risk of those characters biting the bullet. Doesn't quite excuse the options to slag it around the galaxy (not that I'm complaining) but it does mean there's potential to return to them in ME3.

I'll be surprised if there are many new crew members in ME3. It'd make more sense to use the characters established in the first two.

Just finished my second playthrough and, well, this game is still bloody amazing! Might even do a third playthrough soon, if I have time.

This time round I managed to

get all the crew members through the suicide mission whereas in my first playthrough Legion, Jack and Zaeed died

                    .

If saves can be transferred over to Mass Effect 3 then I will definitely be using my first playthrough as it was alot more spontaneous and "realistic", if that makes sense.

Oh man, I can't wait for Mass Effect 3!

There is one part that's really annoying me.

I want to stay faithful to Ashley from the first game. When I have told this to

Jack and Miranda so far (after Miranda almost got waay too touchy.) They now don't talk to me. They just say either "Talk to you later" or "**** off." Like it's a conversation dead end with them.

It annoys me they don't allow you to be friends with the opposite sex characters. Garrus and the scientiest (after his singing section pure brill) are constantly talking to me after the loyalty quests. It's like the girls are only interested in my characters body rather than friendship!)

I want to start a "New Game+" but I chose the option to continue exploring the galaxy...when I go start "New Game" from the main menu, I get to choose to import my Mass Effect 2 character, will he be at the same level as my first playthrough with all my stuff or will he be a level 0?

You can keep on playing your completed game and continue to level him up (the cap is lvl. 30) by finishing of side quests.

What is transferred to new game + is:

                          - your character level
                          - your weapon specialisation (when you first go on the collector ship you get to choose)
                          - the loyalty skills (fortification/ warp ammo etc)
                          - all the weapons/ heavy weapons you've unlocked

When you go through the new game + setup, you can choose one loyalty skill to start the game off. However, once you recruit Mordin, you can change it, since you have access to the labs.

What is not carried over to the new game + is your weapon/ armour/ biotic/ tech/ ship upgrades.
                          Character relationships will be reset.
Paragon/ Renegade status will be reset to zero.

Though if you're going to go through an 'insanity' difficulty run (as i'm doing at the moment, and christ you take a battering in that) i've heard that it's slightly easier doing it from scratch, since the enemies scale to what level you are.
Not sure how much weight there is to that statement though.

Thing is, I'm at about 26/27 and I really am scraping the barrel of side quests now!

Is insanity really that frustrating then? I was tempted to go for the 1015/1015 gamerscore, but I would hate to sully my memory/opinion of the game by getting angry during a "hard" playthrough.

I tend to avoid harder difficult playthroughs because they almost always ruin my opinion of a game I love.

I'd imagine it's very much an accurate one, in games where enemies scale in level as you, the scaling almost always benefits the enemy as they gain abilities and stats at a larger size than the player does. Given that, for whatever reason you can only level up after each mission, and that mission planets aren't returnable to once you clear the associated mission, it's pretty much a certainty that level scaling enemies plague the game. Best to keep them as low as possible.

This really isn't living up to the hype so far for me. Average at best, dumbed down and missing the parts that made the first game so good. I hope it improves.
