The speed at which the enemies move, if there was a crouch button it may as well double as a suicide button.

Really enjoyed this so far from what I've played of all the campaigns and especially the multiplayer. Good, solid game and loved the marine campaign. Fighting the aliens in survival mode will never get boring, alien AI is incredibly fun to fight against. Really hope they get to do a sequel and that Colonial Marines continues production. Gearbox tend to do good stories (well I enjoyed Hells Highway anyway) so I look forward to see what they do with it and surely the sales of this must persuade Sega to spend the money on it. I just hope its troubled production history hasn't screwed it up at all.

What surprises me is how people use one or two reviews to judge this and all of a sudden it's ****. The game's had a mixed range of reviews, from bad to great, meaning it's a marmite game. Yet because for example a site like Eurogamer gives it a 6/10 it's really **** and then not worth bothering with.

Its really intense and some times really really good. But when you have played it 3 times it wears a bit thin, as the campaigns sometimes mirror in some areas identically somewhat. I came across some serious bugs in my playtime as well. But like you said Eurogamer or similar reviews should really be ignored and view the game by your own merits.

From all this mixed information I really cant make my mind up whether to stump up the cash and try this out...

The problem for me is that we're currently in an absolute deluge of great videogame titles and I have a backlog of a good 5-6 games already but I love the Alien/Predator licence. Unfortunately though I sit in the "hated the demo" camp... so where does that leave me on the final product?

I actually think I might have to rent it and then perhaps pick it up cheaper in a few months when hopefully it has more DLC and perhaps the odd patch/tweak. How does the MP stack up in terms of longevity guys?

It's not that I think the Eurogamer review should be ignored or discarded, it's a decent review (though overly harsh, IMO) which does point out the flaws and positives of the game. It's just that when a game has such a wide range of reviews from people who love it to people who hate it it's obviously a marmite game. It's not another Rogue Warrior or Shellshock 2 which are just outright **** games. I personally feel Rebellion have had a pretty damn good stab at it and done well, even if it's unpolished to the extreme but it's hardly a disaster either. I just feel that it's something people should try for themselves and decide first, there's a lot to love there despite its flaws.

Downloaded an update for this earlier when i went to try it out online and then afterwards I went back to the single player and its messed it up, the pulse rifile shoots big squares and aliens are stuck to the walls, they disapear into thin air when you shoot them and it wont let me progress to the next checkpoint.

I restarted the level but still no joy, i just got purple ceilings and more square blobby graphics...

              What the heck?

That sounds like an E74 error could be on its way.

tried again today and no more graphical errors since so im not sure what it was really.

Completed all the campaigns today, enjoyable if not exactly that great.

The Predator campaign is terrible and the marine campaign isnt a patch on the one from AvP2 but the alien campaign is really good fun. Shame all the alien levels seem increadabley short.

Not sure i can be bothered to play it on a harder difficulty, on the whole the game wasnt exactly the most riverting experience ever, the whole game seemed to be just going through the motions for most part, shame really, could have been better but didnt seem to have had much effort put into it.

It really does feel like 3-4 year old product. Once I've completed the campaigns it will be traded in. Such a missed opportunity and waste of a great license.
It is enjoyable and Rebellion definitely get what an Aliens vs. Predator game should be (give them credit, they nailed the atmosphere) but yeah, had Valve or id been at the helm those crescendo moments would have been a hell of a lot better, and you know there’d be some L4D-esque dialogue trees with (insert classic Hudson lines here) playing when you got overwhelmed.

the music and fx are good tho...the jungle drumming score from predator 2 is in there which is good! but why the hell does everyone shout 'dont relax yet marine' every 5 seconds?
Yeah, the Marines will say ‘ don’t relax just yet Marines’ when there’s only you and him/her left.

Are people being serious when they say the marine campaign can be completed in 2 hours?

Each of the capaigns are very short, they only have 6 levels each to them I think and none are very long.

I played all three capaigns at once so its hard to comment exactly how long each was, but two hours sounds about right. The Alien one is probabaly even shorter.

The marine one is apparently the longest, and I felt it was as long as it needed to be (on hard) at about 3 hours.

I understand there are mixed opinions on MW2 online play but I can't believe how terrible the matchmaking in AvP is. Truly awful, my record is just under 7 mins waiting to start a game. What's that about?

I know nothing about how to program the online multiplayer side of things and clearly I should of applied to Rebellion for the position as I couldn't of done any worse.

Don't get me wrong I have enjoyed the game but would advise anyone who is undecided to definitely try before you buy and rent it first before you handover £40.

Could be worse, at least you've managed to play a match.

Still not managed to play a ranked match yet, not one. Apparently I'm the only person in the entire world playing the game when searching.

I found a really easy way to kill the

                                Praetorian

on the Marine campaign and it works on any difficulty. As soon as you've

got control of your character, run to your immediate left and jump down, now run up the stairs in front of you and onto the elevator on your right. For some reason the Warrior Aliens will not come onto the platform and don't attack you, so ignore them, and the Praetorian just stays up on the walkway, so the most action you'll see is avoiding its acid spit. Now just keep pummelling it with bullets.
