I was hoping that wasn't the case as I can't seem to get the hang of drifting at all, thankfully I found a much easier way to do it - after the first corner there's a barge powerup on the far left, if you pick it up then swing right to take a fast cut at the next left hander you'll plough right into the middle of the pack. If you time it right you can hit five other cars with the barge and unlocked the requirement.
The low numbers online for such a new game is concerning, I couldn't get a game at all last night and the single player is just irritating...too much effort has been put into making the computer behave extremely unfairly and while it's funny at times because it's so blatant I normally find my patience wearing thin very quickly.

No matter how much I seem to hit them back with aside from one-on-ones I don't seem to make any progress at all even with all slots filled and emptying it to chain the damage together.
Their timing is always absolutely perfect so that even if you launch a shunt right on them they immediately put a shield up and they can time their weapons so that they hit you just at the worst time to cause a massive penalty by leaving you stone dead facing the wrong way. Their speed at times is incredible, so much so that I've been overtaken while I'm nitro-ing and they're not despite having a similar spec of cars. I've also noticed they seem determined to ram you off course to miss gates, at one point I had four cars all trying to ram me to miss one of the gates.
Destruction and checkpoint I find easier and much more enjoyable as it's pretty much just me so it's just a case of learning where the clock/boosts are or for destruction working out how to maximise the damage.

Late to the party but I'm adoring this...such a brainless fun game!
Online is hard at first being a newcomer, I thought I was doing well as I'd got up to 2nd and then I got bummed by about 4 different weapons from different people...ended up 4th.
Seems that not too many people are playing though (Total online when playing was 700 ish) but then that's XBOX LIVE for you.
In single player despite being 20 car races it very much feels like team vs team, your team being you and other team being the other 19 cars...it can be very challenging (for me) even on normal, but I'm enjoying it.

Started this on 360 tonight after ploughing several hours into PS3 but then hitting a wall. Finding it slighty more forgiving on the 360 pad and I'm caning races that I struggled with on PS3.
Jebus, I've set you as my SP rival! It's great seeing which of us 'owns' certain events and gives me that little push to try races again for a few more fans just to get my name on the screen instead of yours!

It's hard to rate this game as the single player serves little more than a practice ground and while the multiplayer is fantastic, I find it difficult to get a good game as there's so few people online. The latter is no fault of the developers though it's just such a shame as when I get a good game going I'm hooked to the game for hours and hours, I think it's fantastic in many ways.

Played this in split-screen on two projectors the other night... Only when you have a group of mates all in the same game do you appreciate how well this plays in multiplayer.
I think 8-10 player is the sweet spot online as anything more like 20 players online is just a bit too chaotic. Great game though.Last edited by nonny; 09-08-2010, 02:19.

Too true. Had a party of 8 in a skirmish game yesterday. So much fun. Never had as much fun playing anything online before. Even better when everyone decides to gang up on people winning the races.
