I've held off on this game so far since my mate has just started playing Modern Warfare 2. I loved the demo but will wait for a price drop. But I would like to know what the stats are like in this? Are they as extensive as Modern Warfare? Is there an extensive list of challenges in-game? Is there a K/D ratio to think about? I don't recall one when I was playing the demo.

Just as awkward as they were in Bad Company, if that makes any difference.

you have a K/D ratio though not a win/lose. Each overal level up brings rewards, each class had individual rewards for levelling them up and each weapon has medals for reaching a certain number of kills. There are also various other medals like "7 kills with shotgun in a round".

Not as extensive as MW by any means, but it works.

Choppers are easier than the main BF titles but still harder than most vehicles in shooters. In previous games you could end up upsidown and a world of pain seconds after taking off!

I've just come across another MW2 dig in the campaign:

"If this was a snowmobile race I'd shoot you down."

          "Snowmobiles are for sissies."

Yeah, I get a bit sick of getting in a helicopter gun seat as the pilot waits to fully load up with players (they're deadly in the hands of a decent pack of players) and then they take off and fly backwards into the outer zone killing us all. To be fair, the controls for the vehicles in this are better than the last game but are still fudged with some types of vehicles having different control schemes for seemingly the sake of it. They should just keep the controls simple to use. The controls for the air copter are miles better than the actual choppers.

Not really, there are 2 kinds, ones that hold you and a couple of gunners (Blackhawks) , they are slow and don't react very quickly so you don't have time to correct mistakes and then you have your attack choppers (Hind and Apache) which are really fast and manueverable, they are great fun and you feel proper awesome flying around in those strafing tanks and bombarding them with missles.

I've found that putting the Blackhawk into 3rd person makes it lots easier to move slowly and to hover so your gunners can get a clear shot.

picked this up last night and really enjoying it.
tried team deathmatch and conquest mode. i like BF43 so kind of got straight into that mode.
played about a hour or so of the single player. good stuff and also pretty funny...

One of the pointless changes to the controls in this and 1943 is moving the first to third person view change from the right thumb stick click to up on the D-pad. It was much more accessible and quicker to do in Bad Company with it being the right thumb stick click and it meant you could still move the vehicle when changing view instead of now having to let go of the left thumb stick to press the D-pad. I don't care how quick this is to do, it's not as slick as it was in Bad Company.

I find the helicopters hard to fly still, if you have a good pilot and the right team you can cause a whole lot of damage!! Had quite a few games yesterday with Evilboris, boy can he fly those choppers lol, in one game we never lost the chopper for virtually all the game, other team must have hated us. Serious flying skills

Well one of the matches I played with Boris yesterday, he flew the helicopter kamikaze style into an enemy base. I wouldn't call that skills.

That was deliberate! Sure, it didn't work but that's not the point

The thought of a Heli pilot, 2 gunners, an engineer and a rocket launcher...

Wow, you could do some serious damage.

If anyone wants to add me for some multiplay on PS3 my tag is 'Abused_Dog'.

I'm a beginner and a bit crap, err...of course what I mean to say is I'm an asset, nay a lynchpin, to every squad that has the fortune to have me.

That was my favourite tactic in 1942 (with the Desert Combat mod) and Vietnam. We also suicide with the tank by ramming it into people as it was in flames.

It's quite funny you can crash into the ground pretty hard without damaging the helicopter
