not to tempt you further matey but if you liked the demo all I can say is the main game delivers in spades above it, and for me at 24h in blowing stuff up aint getting old either, can't recall the last game I spent so many hours ona game, plus im still only at 18% completion and only scuffed the surface of the main story mode.

I'm still loving it too. There's been so many comedy moments I'd probably be here for ages tying to recount them, but one from this morning stands out.
The huge stone statues that are scattered around can be destroyed in a number of ways but I love the standard approach of getting a beefy car, wiring it to the statue and then racing off and break neck speed to pull it down. I did that as usual, not realising that someone had parked a car right under the statue. The parts came tumbling down right on top of it, and in most games it would have clipped through in an unsatisfying fashion. Instead it smashed it to smithereens, complete with honking car alarm.

Of course it's all subjective, but game of the year? Come on!

I totally respect that, but for me it felt very "janky" control wise and the aiming of the guns felt off. I guess what I'm saying is that like the first game, there are some fabulous ideas but once again (though better than the first) the actual execution and mechanics just aren't good enough by quite a lot, certainly not enjoyable to actually play for me to invest the time this game would require, as it's massive again.
I've played games as long as I can remember now and a big no no for my personal game choice is controls I feel like I'm fighting, one of the first missions escaping on the car frustrated me hugely.
Your mileage will vary though, but the game isn't for me.Last edited by Jebus; 28-03-2010, 13:25.

I ended up buying this yesterday and it does seem very rough when it comes to the controls and I do feel that there are too many times when things happen by accident instead of them happening because you've done something.
Although that has made it pretty frustrating at times when I've needed to be precise I've also found that it's accidental things that are also the most fun when they don't get in the way of what you are trying to do.
It's incidents like the one I've just uploaded to the video below are where the game really shines for me. This video is really tame compared to other stuff that has happened but I've only just realised that the game caches the last 30 seconds of gameplay as well as you being able to manually record sections.
It really is a mixed bag so far and I do think it is very easy to dismiss the game due to the many flaws but I'm trying to look past them and enjoy what it does offer.
Not sure if I'll have the patience to complete all the missions as they don't seem to be particularly interesting but just messing around can be a lot of fun.
If people who've played the demo on the PS3 are still unsure even though it was pretty long, you can remove the time limit which means you can spend some time exploring the demo area.

Really didn't enjoy the demo when it was first released but all these positive posts made me try it again...really enjoy it now! I might pick it up but it does seem like one of those games that gets dull quickly, is the demo all there is to the game other than pallet swaps for different parts of the island?

I'm at 24h and still not finding any aspect of it a drag at all, the missions are well structured so far and I'm finding the controls become really fluent when you get used to them, I just chased down cars I needed to hijack across a frozen lake by grapple parachuting along behind them, realistic it aint but its a top laugh.
for what its worth I hated the game on my first go at the demo too, my son made me go back and try again.

What difficulty is everyone playing this on? I stuck in on hardcore and finding it...well...hardcore. Wish there was a cover mechanic and more health scattered around. Finding at first I had to be really careful / tactical when on-foot or stageing attacks and have been caught out and killed often through my own carelessness. However 10 hrs in I'm now jumping around bases like spiderman, blasting and moving quickly, parachuting around with pinpoint accuracy and destroying all. Love it.
