Fire Emblem - Shin monshou no nazo - hikari to kage no eiyuu (DS)

Second FE (super famicom remake) game on the DS and the first with an encyclopedia you can look through to check who/what/where the characters are talking about. Thanks to the dual-screened nature of the DS.

You start off by choosing the difficulty level (normal, hard, maniac and lunatic), mode ("casual" where fallen characters survive to the next battle, and "classic", where people stay dead), and making your "my unit" - a personalised character you use throughout the game.

The look and sound of the game is practically identical to the first DS one (which admittedly I haven't played much of -yet-).

Right now I'm still scratching the surface, but there are downloadable quests/events/items, and an online shop with a selection of items that changes every Sunday.

It's Fire Emblem. Kind of sums it up.

    Have a question.

Ive recently been playing Radiant Dawn on the wii and its increadabley hard, it took me about 4 hours (and about 34 restarts) to do the 3rd mission.

Oddly ive never played any other Fire Emblem game before despite always enjoying the genre. I'm just wondering if this is as hard as Radiant Dawn really?, as much as I am enjoying that game i doubt my living room door can take many more punches.

Radiant Dawn starts very hard because most of your characters are at low level with crappy stats and equipment. In most Fire Emblems you start with a high level unit (sometimes even a promoted unit) which makes things less frustrating...if you can get past the chapter (the Dawn Brigade chapter) Radiant Dawn shapes up to a good entry in the series, only the 6 or so missions are that hard.

BTW, back to Shin Monshou: what kind of unit can your character can be? I mean, you can start off with a Dragon/Pegasus Knight or it's limited to more "basic" classes? My fear is that starting off with a certain unit (flying units and blademasters - if they kept their balancing on the average with other games) can potentially break the game making it too easy.

How import friendly is this? Does it have English menus, at least?

I'm slowly beginning to think that this won't get a UK release...

rmoxon: This is really easy to get into, so don't be afraid.

briareos_kerensky: a good point...I've already forgotten. My character is a mage and that's kind of making it a little easy. But I am playing it on normal, not lunatic. There are enough difficulty settings to not make it that easy I guess.

Kaladron: Main menus are in English, but not the rest. Why won't it get a release? This only came out in Japan 4 weeks ago...
